Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) – AI/ML & Healthcare
Location: Maryland – Day 1 Onsite
Job Description
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) with strong experience in AI/ML, Generative AI, Python, APIs, SQL, and healthcare payer operations.
The FDE will work directly with healthcare business and operational teams to understand real-world problems, develop AI-powered solutions, integrate them with existing systems, and deploy solutions into production.
The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering skills with practical AI/ML and healthcare domain knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with healthcare payer teams to understand operational challenges and business requirements.
Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML and Generative AI solutions.
Build production-ready applications using Python, APIs, SQL, and modern AI frameworks.
Develop AI-powered workflows for claims, prior authorization, payment integrity, and exception/pended claims.
Integrate LLMs and AI services with existing healthcare applications and data platforms.
Build data pipelines and services to process healthcare claims and operational data.
Work with business users to prototype, test, and rapidly improve AI solutions.
Troubleshoot production issues and optimize deployed solutions.
Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product teams, and healthcare subject-matter experts.
Required Skills
5+ years of software/data/AI engineering experience.
Strong Python development experience.
Experience building and integrating REST APIs.
Strong SQL and database experience.
Hands-on experience with AI/ML or Generative AI.
Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, or AI agents.
Experience deploying AI/ML solutions into production.
Strong data engineering and data-processing experience.
Experience working directly with business/operations teams.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
