Summary

Role: CDA / C-CDA Data Integration Specialist
Location: Remote
Engagement: Part-Time (10–20 hrs/week)
Duration: 3–6 weeks (possible extension)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced healthcare interoperability specialist to support a project requiring conversion of flat‑file data (CSV, TSV, Excel, JSON, etc.) into HL7 CDA and C‑CDA formats. The ideal candidate will help define the technical approach, build conversion tooling (pipeline or scripts), design validation workflows, and ensure compliance with healthcare data standards.
This is a part‑time consulting engagement with flexible hours, ideal for a subject‑matter expert who has hands‑on experience with HL7 standards and healthcare data engineering.

Key Responsibilities
1. Solution & Tooling Design
Develop the architectural approach for converting flat files into CDA/C‑CDA documents.
Define data mapping models, templates, and transformation logic.
Recommend a scalable framework or toolchain (e.g., XSLT, FHIR APIs, HL7 libraries, or custom converters).
2. Data Mapping & Standards Compliance
Build and maintain mapping between flat‑file schemas and CDA/C‑CDA structures.
Ensure conformance with HL7 CDA/C‑CDA implementation guides and templates.
Handle clinical vocabularies and coding systems (SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD‑10, RxNorm).
3. Development & Implementation
Create scripts, modules, or microservices to execute the conversion.
Implement transformation logic using best‑fit technologies (e.g., XML manipulation, model-driven generation, XSLT, Python/Java converters).
Ensure output documents are syntactically valid, schema‑compliant, and semantically accurate.
4. Testing & Validation
Develop validation rules and automated checks (XML schema validation, HL7 validators).
Debug and refine CDA/C‑CDA outputs.
Build test cases and assist integration with downstream systems.
5. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
Produce clear documentation for workflows, mapping, and conversion logic.
Provide training sessions or walkthroughs to internal teams.

Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience working with HL7 CDA and/or C‑CDA standards.
Strong expertise in healthcare interoperability, EMR/EHR schemas, and clinical document structure.
Experience with XML, XSLT, XPath, and HL7 toolkits.
Hands‑on experience converting or mapping data between different formats.
Familiarity with healthcare terminologies (SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD‑10, RxNorm).
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with FHIR and modern HL7 frameworks.
Background in healthcare data engineering or clinical informatics.
Experience building production‑grade data transformation pipelines.
Knowledge of HIPAA-compliant data handling.

Soft Skills
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Comfortable collaborating with cross‑functional technical and non‑technical teams.
