Summary
Position Overview
The Director of Information Technology provides strategic leadership and operational direction for the organization’s IT function, including technology operations, procurement oversight, and policy governance. This role blends technical leadership with strong sourcing and contract management capabilities to enhance system performance, ensure compliance, and maximize value from technology investments.
Primary Responsibilities
Technology Operations
Direct and manage daily IT functions, including infrastructure, applications, and service delivery
Design and execute IT strategies that support overall business objectives
Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and third-party vendor partnerships
Maintain system performance, uptime, and overall service reliability
Drive cybersecurity initiatives and enterprise risk management efforts
Lead help desk operations and ensure high-quality end-user support
Procurement & Vendor Governance
Develop and enforce procurement frameworks, policies, and standards
Manage the full lifecycle of technology purchasing, from request through contract execution
Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, including performance monitoring
Lead contract negotiations, including pricing and service level agreements
Identify and implement cost-efficiency and sourcing optimization opportunities
Policy & Compliance Management
Create, evaluate, and revise IT and procurement policies as needed
Ensure policies align with industry best practices and regulatory expectations
Promote awareness of policy updates and drive compliance across the organization
Establish governance structures for technology investments and decision-making
Track and report on policy effectiveness and compliance metrics
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline; MBA preferred
Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT leadership and procurement environments
At least 5 years of experience managing and developing teams
Strong knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and operational processes
Proven expertise in procurement strategy, vendor management, and contract negotiation
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards
Strong organizational, leadership, and project management capabilities
Preferred Experience & Skills
Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CIPS, or equivalent
Experience working with ERP platforms and procurement tools
Demonstrated financial management and budgeting experience
Background in organizational change management
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
