Overview

Mako's Utilities client is seeking a Disaster Recovery Modernization Engineer / Architect to redesign and modernize its DR environment. This role will focus on transitioning legacy, manual DR processes into automated, cloud-integrated frameworks that improve reliability, speed, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Assess and redesign existing disaster recovery architecture and processes
Develop cloud-based DR strategies aligned with Azure infrastructure
Implement automated DR runbooks, testing, and validation processes
Improve recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO)
Ensure DR solutions meet compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements
Partner with infrastructure, automation, and SRE teams on DR modernization

Required Skills & Experience

Strong background in disaster recovery architecture and implementation
Experience modernizing DR using cloud and automation tools
Knowledge of automated runbook orchestration and DR testing
Experience operating in regulated or mission-critical environments

Nice to Have

Azure-native DR tooling experience
Utilities or critical infrastructure experience
Infrastructure automation or IaC exposure
