Role: AWS Cloud Migration Architect (VMware OpenStack AWS)

Location: Dallas-TX, Rochester-NY, Irvine-CA

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & Migration Design

Design end-to-end cloud migration architectures from on-prem VMware environments to OpenStack and AWS (IaaS, PaaS, hybrid models)

Define target state cloud architectures aligned with AWS best practices (Well-Architected Framework, landing zones, multi-account strategy)

Lead application and infrastructure migration assessments, dependency mapping, and modernization recommendations

Architect solutions for compute, networking, storage, identity, security, and observability across VMware, OpenStack, and AWS

Define migration patterns (rehost, replatform, refactor) and transition strategies

Technical Program Leadership

Lead large-scale cloud migration programs end-to-end, including planning, sequencing, risk management, and execution tracking

Act as the technical authority coordinating architects, engineers, SREs, security teams, and external partners

Own technical roadmaps, migration waves, runbooks, and cutover strategies

Identify and mitigate technical risks related to performance, security, availability, and cost

Drive governance around architecture standards, design reviews, and change management

Required Qualifications

Experience Total 12+ years exp and out of which 8+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture, cloud engineering, or large-scale IT transformation

Proven experience leading VMware to OpenStack migrations and OpenStack to AWS or hybrid cloud transitions

Hands-on experience designing and executing enterprise-scale AWS migrations

Demonstrated success managing complex technical programs, not just isolated projects

Technical Skills

Deep knowledge of VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) and enterprise virtualization stacks

Strong experience with OpenStack architecture (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone)

Advanced AWS architecture knowledge (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, EKS/ECS, CloudWatch, Landing Zones)

Solid understanding of networking, security, identity, and compliance in hybrid cloud environments

Experience with migration tooling (AWS Migration Hub, DMS, CloudEndure, third-party tools)

Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible preferred)
