IDR is seeking a Manager, Data Center Operations to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Chicago, IL. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of data centers, managing large-scale electrical and mechanical systems, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The position offers the chance to lead critical infrastructure projects within a dynamic and technologically advanced environment.
Position Overview for the Manager, Data Center Operations:- Lead the operational management of data center facilities, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and efficiency.
- Oversee electrical and mechanical system maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades, including chillers, generators, and fire suppression systems.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, and building safety codes, while implementing best practices for energy efficiency.
- Manage vendor relationships, project timelines, budgeting, and scope development to meet operational goals.
- Lead a team of technical staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements for the Manager, Data Center Operations:- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems including VFDs, pumps, chillers, and cooling towers.
- Expert understanding of electrical distribution, fiber optics, cabling infrastructure, and critical power systems.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing technical teams and vendors.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations such as NFPA, OSHA, and NFPA 70E.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with proficiency in MS Office Suite and project management tools.
