Product Owners serve as the primary link between Product Management and the Engineering team. Not only do they own the delivery backlog end-to-end but are responsible for translating high-level product strategy and vision, as defined in a product roadmap, into actionable requirements. Their mission is to maximize the value of the product by balancing, through managing standardized processes, breaking silos through cross-team collaboration, and ensuring that blockers are immediately mitigated so that teams can quickly and efficiently reach their goals.
This individual will serve in a delivery-focused role, helping increase delivery throughput by supporting team POs with intake-to-ready execution (clarifying scope, drafting/refining stories and acceptance criteria, coordinating dependencies, and keeping delivery artifacts current).
Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements Definition: Own backlog by gathering and documenting detailed requirements. Translate Product Manager priorities and roadmap direction into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that are clear, testable, and ready for execution. Partner with engineering, design, and stakeholders to refine requirements, document dependencies and business rules, and ensure the team has the detail needed to deliver effectively.
  • Backlog Management: Act as the single point of entry of work into an engineering team, through organizing the product backlog, ensuring stories and priorities align with the product roadmap as defined by the Product Manager.
  • Team Management: Help support and reduce work-in-progress and lead times by managing dependencies and coordinating conversations across value streams.
  • Capacity Planning: Infuse roadmap process with capacity-based planning and higher degrees of delivery predictability.
  • Agile Ceremonies: Actively lead or participate in PI planning, grooming, refinements, and retrospectives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the liaison between business stakeholders, clients, and developers. Collaborate closely with design and engineering throughout the product development process. Align stakeholders and communicate progress, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QA to test and validate completed work, ensuring it meets acceptance criteria and Definition of Done (DoD) (with strong eye toward functional requirements).
  • Metrics & Reporting: Track and report on key delivery metrics (velocity, cycle time, defect rates) to inform roadmap decisions and communicate team health to leadership.
  • Risk & Impediment Management: Proactively identify risks, blockers, and dependencies that could impact delivery, and drive resolution across teams.
  • Story Drafting & Refinement Support: Help team POs accelerate refinement by drafting/refining epics and stories, strengthening acceptance criteria, and ensuring dependencies, assumptions, and business rules are captured before planning.
  • Intake Triage & Clarification: Triage incoming requests, gather missing details, define scope boundaries, and route work to the right PO/team—reducing churn and mid-sprint changes.
  • Dependency & Blocker Follow-Through: Track cross-team dependencies and open questions; run targeted working sessions and follow-ups to secure decisions, inputs, and sequencing needed to keep delivery moving.
  • Delivery Readiness Artifacts: Maintain and consolidate delivery artifacts (scope summaries, RAID items, stakeholder decision logs, release notes/runbooks where applicable) so teams and stakeholders have a consistent, current view of what is shipping and what is at risk.
  • Release Coordination & Stakeholder Updates: Assist team POs with release planning and communications by consolidating status, risks, and dependencies across teams and ensuring timely updates.
  • PO Coverage & Continuity: Provide short-term coverage for team POs (PTO/transition) to keep refinements, stakeholder responsiveness, and delivery-critical decisions moving.
Key Skills & Qualities
  • Required: Microsoft Copilot experience (using Copilot to accelerate requirements drafting, analysis, locating relevant documentation, summarization, and meeting/action-item follow-ups).
  • Proactive and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Strong English language speaking skills
  • User empathy and a deep understanding of customer needs
  • Analytical mindset and comfort with data-driven decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong familiarity with agile development methodologies
  • Experience: 5+ years (Senior) to 10+ years (Specialist) in fintech, banking, capital markets, or software product management.
  • Education: Bachelor''s degree in business, finance, or computer science.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe), Jira, SQL, and API integrations.
  • Domain Knowledge: Expertise in specific areas like consumer banking or business banking application experience or other relevant financial banking experience (business banking application experience is preferred).
