Summary

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for our Structural Department in Wall, NJ.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for building systems including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.
  • Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, and supporting design documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, and details.
  • Coordinate structural design with other internal disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical, and architecture.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction.
  • Assist with field observations and site visits to evaluate existing structures and construction progress.
  • Support project managers with scheduling, coordination, and technical deliverables.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in internal design reviews and quality control processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus or Structural Engineering.
  • 2-4 years of structural design experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
  • Working knowledge of structural design software such as RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar analysis programs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.
  • Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and other applicable design codes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites to perform construction inspections and structural field observations in New Jersey and New York

Preferred Qualifications

  • ICC Special Inspector certification or ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification, or the ability to obtain within one year of hire

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
