1.      Experience Requirements: Must have 10+ years of experience in Java development and at least 2 year of experience with AWS services. This is a senior-level individual contributor role.

2.      Hands-On Coding Priority: The manager wants to see strong evidence of hands-on coding on the resume, not just high-level design or architecture. Candidates with resumes that are too design-heavy will be disqualified.

3.      Testing Tools: Cucumber or Selenium must appear on the resume. The team uses Cucumber for BDD testing and JMeter for performance testing. Candidates without these tools listed will be at a significant disadvantage.

4.      Backend Focus: The role is strictly backend software development. Candidates with heavy frontend experience (Angular, React, etc.) should clearly explain the split between backend and frontend work. Resumes showing primarily frontend will not qualify.

5.      Schedule & Ceremonies: The team starts at 8:00 AM Central time and participates fully in Scrum ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, grooming, retrospectives, demos). The team uses Azure DevOps Scrum boards for tracking work.

6.      Location & Hybrid Schedule: This is a hybrid role based in either Peoria, IL, or Chicago, IL. Candidates must be local or explicitly state willingness to relocate at their own expense. The requirement is 2-3 days in-office per week.
