Role Overview

IntelliSavvy is seeking an experienced IBM iSeries / RPG Developer to provide business/systems analysis, application development, maintenance, enhancements, and integration support for University Services applications.

The consultant will work closely with USIT technical teams and business users and should be comfortable gathering requirements directly from customers, working with limited detailed programming specifications, and supporting multiple functional areas and projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform business/systems analysis and programming on IBM iSeries / AS400 platforms.

• Maintain and enhance existing applications and develop new functionality.

• Develop primarily using RPGIV/RPGLE and CL, with some RPGIII, Java, and PHP.

• Gather and analyze requirements directly with University business users.

• Support applications involving:

  • Order entry and billing

  • Inventory

  • Labor

  • Payments

  • Financial/data reconciliation

• Develop and maintain interfaces between University Services applications and enterprise University systems.

• Integrate applications with PeopleSoft and University Identity Management/authentication systems.

• Work with Townsend/Perplexity security and integration utilities.

• Utilize ARCAD for change management.

• Support integrations involving financial, payroll, student accounts receivable, authentication, and University-specific payment methods.

• Troubleshoot application and integration issues and perform testing and validation.

• When required, review, direct, and test development work performed by other programmers.

• Work closely with both technical teams and business customers while filling multiple project roles.

Required Skills

• Strong IBM iSeries / AS400 application development experience.

• Strong RPGIV / RPGLE programming experience.

• Strong CL programming experience.

• IBM iSeries business and systems analysis experience.

• Application maintenance, enhancements, and new development experience.

• Experience gathering requirements directly from business stakeholders.

• Experience with enterprise application and data integrations.

• Experience supporting transactional applications such as billing, payments, inventory, labor, or reconciliation systems.

• Strong troubleshooting, testing, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with technical and non-technical customers.

• Ability to work effectively when detailed programming specifications are not available.

Strongly Preferred

• Higher Education / University IBM iSeries experience.

• PeopleSoft integration experience.

• Identity Management / authentication integration experience.

• ARCAD change-management experience.

• Townsend / Perplexity security or integration experience.

• RPGIII development experience.

• Experience integrating with financial, payroll, student receivables, payment, or reconciliation systems.

• Experience reviewing and testing work performed by other developers.

Nice to Have

• Java development experience.

• PHP development experience.

• Web application development experience, particularly web-based ordering or service applications.

Ideal Candidate

A senior IBM iSeries professional with deep RPGIV/RPGLE and CL expertise who can operate as both a developer and systems/business analyst. The ideal candidate has previous Higher Education or University IBM iSeries experience, strong customer-facing skills, and experience supporting complex billing, payment, financial, and enterprise-system integrations.
