Summary

QA/QC Technician - Data Center Telecommunications

Location: Data Center
Schedule: Monday-Friday | Typically 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 months)
Pay: $25-$28/hr + OT (1.5x)

About the Role

We're looking for a QA/QC Technician to support telecom work inside a data center environment. This role is focused on quality, not installation. You'll be reviewing completed work - making sure cabling, equipment, and racks are installed correctly, meet standards, and are documented properly.
If you enjoy spotting issues, working independently, and ensuring work is done the right way, this role is a great fit. You'll spend your day inspecting completed installs, identifying risks or errors, and clearly documenting your findings for site leadership.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform daily quality inspections on completed telecom work
  • Inspect fiber and copper cabling, telecom equipment, racks, and cable dressing
  • Use checklists to verify work meets industry standards (BICSI, TIA, manufacturer specs)
  • Identify quality issues, risks, or areas for improvement
  • Document findings clearly and professionally
  • Share reports with QA/QC leadership and site teams
  • Occasionally help train field teams on quality standards
  • Stay current on industry standards and best practices

Important: This is a quality auditing role. Equipment is already installed when you arrive - you are inspecting and verifying, not installing.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
  • Ability to think like an auditor, not just an installer
  • Comfortable documenting issues and speaking up when something isn't right
  • Professional communication skills on active job sites
  • Self-motivated and able to manage your own workday
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role

Required Experience

  • 2+ years of structured cabling experience
  • Solid understanding of proper cable installation and industry standards
  • Experience with:
    • Copper & fiber cabling
    • Rack layouts and cable management
    • Telecom or data center environments (or strong cabling fundamentals)

Experience outside of data centers is acceptable if your fundamentals are strong (CAT5/6 installs, fiber work, telecom environments, etc.).

Nice to Have

  • Fiber optic experience
  • QA/QC or inspection experience
  • Technical support experience
  • Outside Plant (OSP) exposure

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Primarily based at one data center
  • Occasional support at other nearby sites
  • Overtime available, and at times may be required
  • Fast-paced but organized environment with clear expectations

Why Join Us

We invest in our people, support internal growth, and create an environment where teammates take pride in their work. This role exists because the team needs strong quality support - not just more installers. If you're someone who knows what "right" looks like and isn't afraid to call out what's wrong, you'll be valued here.
