The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners with every part of the American Express business to power the company's growth and innovation with trust and efficiency, and drive competitive differentiation with speed. We support the delivery and operations of technology, digital, and data capabilities, platforms, and services globally. Specifically, our team is responsible for the company's technology engineering, architecture, and infrastructure, providing 24x7 support to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality experience for customers and colleagues. We also provide product management for core enterprise platforms, and lead technology risk and information security, enterprise data governance and platforms, digital product and design, and enterprise AI platforms on behalf of the company.

The Global Risk & Compliance Technology (GRCT) organization protects Amex with 2nd and 3rd lines of defense systems for Financial Crimes Risk Management and Integrated Risk Management to build a world-class risk-management framework that empowers colleagues to make informed, secure growth decisions, which fosters a trusted brand.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technology guidance and career development support to team members.

Project Management:
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • Collaborate with partners to define project details, objectives, and outcomes.

Technology Expertise:
  • Drive phased and iterative improvement journeys from all angles of People, Processes/Practices and Technologies involved.
  • Review and approve designs, architecture, and code to maintain high standards.
  • Undertake Tech modernization journeys to Industry latest/greatest.
  • Manage and support end-to-end technology-landscape for Risk Management systems and Products, specifically on Financial Crimes Compliance.
  • Build integrated Product roadmaps and strategies.

Collaboration:
  • Work closely with product owners, business process owners, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and solutions to partners effectively.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement standard processes, tools, and methodologies to optimize engineering workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Applies visualization and other techniques to fast track concepts
  • Functions as a core member of an Agile team driving User story analysis & elaboration, design and development of software applications, testing & builds automation tools
  • Works on a specific platform/product assigned to projects based on demand and business priority
  • Sees opportunities to adopt innovative technologies
  • Embodies "rebel with a cause" mentality by looking beyond the obvious for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support Global Risk and Compliance delivery team to lead and assist in the design and actual development of applications.
  • Responsible for specific functional areas within the team, this involves project management and taking business specifications.
  • The individual should be able to independently run projects/tasks delegated to him.
  • Develop and maintain project related documentation,
  • Provide system support and user support/training/communication for implemented applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent OR Master's in Computer Applications or equivalent.
  • 10 to 14 years of experience is required.
  • Expert in Cloud Technologies (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, etc).
  • Expert in System Design.
  • Experience with managing e2e software-delivery for integrating with vendor-systems (SaaS/COTS).
  • Experience with managing e2e software delivery for building complex real-time cloud-native/hybrid distributed systems.
  • Experience with managing continuous software delivery for live business-as-usual high-stakes Production systems.
  • Experience in process automation.
  • Experience in distributed programming.
  • Experience in analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of data applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and document specifications and analyze software and system processing flows.
  • Creative problem solving (Innovative) and strategic critical thinking.
  • Experience of delivery using Agile Methodologies.
  • Experience of defining and using CI/CD pipelines.
  • Depending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost and applicable laws, American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positions.
