Description:
Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and maintain software and firmware components for safety-critical aerospace and defense systems. The role involves working across the full system development life cycle (SDLC) and integrating software with custom hardware and FPGA platforms to support mission-critical avionics applications.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and debug embedded software components including device drivers, boot loaders, and built-in-test (BIT) libraries.
  • Develop software in C targeting LynxOS / LynxElement Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Support safety-critical avionics mission computers in compliance with industry quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across software, hardware, and FPGA engineering.
  • Integrate custom hardware and FPGA designs with embedded software in a laboratory environment.
  • Apply appropriate engineering standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the SDLC.
  • Support documentation, defect resolution, performance analysis, and validation activities.
  • Participate in certification and compliance activities, including:
    • Requirements analysis
    • Peer and formal code reviews
    • Verification and validation efforts
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, application users, and technical support teams as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong experience in Embedded Software Development for aerospace or defense systems.
  • Proficiency in C programming for embedded targets.
  • Hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), preferably LynxOS or LynxElement.
  • Experience developing low-level software (boot loaders, device drivers, BIT).
  • Understanding of avionics, mission systems, or safety-critical environments.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration and FPGA interfacing.
  • Familiarity with certification standards (e.g., DO-178, safety-critical processes) is preferred.
  • Ability to work in lab environments and collaborate across engineering disciplines.
