Description: Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced
Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and maintain
software and firmware components for
safety-critical aerospace and defense systems. The role involves working across the full
system development life cycle (SDLC) and integrating software with
custom hardware and FPGA platforms to support mission-critical avionics applications.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and debug embedded software components including device drivers, boot loaders, and built-in-test (BIT) libraries.
- Develop software in C targeting LynxOS / LynxElement Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Support safety-critical avionics mission computers in compliance with industry quality and safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across software, hardware, and FPGA engineering.
- Integrate custom hardware and FPGA designs with embedded software in a laboratory environment.
- Apply appropriate engineering standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the SDLC.
- Support documentation, defect resolution, performance analysis, and validation activities.
- Participate in certification and compliance activities, including:
- Requirements analysis
- Peer and formal code reviews
- Verification and validation efforts
- Interface with customers, suppliers, application users, and technical support teams as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications- Strong experience in Embedded Software Development for aerospace or defense systems.
- Proficiency in C programming for embedded targets.
- Hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), preferably LynxOS or LynxElement.
- Experience developing low-level software (boot loaders, device drivers, BIT).
- Understanding of avionics, mission systems, or safety-critical environments.
- Experience with hardware/software integration and FPGA interfacing.
- Familiarity with certification standards (e.g., DO-178, safety-critical processes) is preferred.
- Ability to work in lab environments and collaborate across engineering disciplines.
