Position Overview
Talent Groups is seeking a Quality Assurance Data Analyst with strong SQL and database testing experience to validate data, test complex SQL logic, identify defects, and ensure data accuracy across large scale updates and extracts.
The ideal candidate has hands on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T SQL, database testing, data analysis, ETL, stored procedures, and test case development, along with strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate data updates, extracts, imports, and transformations involving large datasets.
- Write and execute SQL queries to validate business requirements, data integrity, and application logic.
- Test complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions, views, temporary tables, and common table expressions.
- Identify data quality issues, defects, inconsistencies, and anomalies.
- Work with Data Engineers, Business Analysts, QA Engineers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve defects.
- Verify fixes and perform regression testing.
- Review requirements and identify gaps, inconsistencies, and data quality concerns.
- Develop and execute test cases covering normal, exceptional, and edge case scenarios.
- Use Excel, SQL Server, and other tools to analyze data and verify requirements.
- Maintain testing documentation, status updates, and project artifacts.
- Clearly communicate testing results, issues, and project status.
- Manage multiple priorities and deliver high quality work within tight deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of database testing experience.
- Strong ability to write, understand, and execute complex SQL queries.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T SQL.
- Experience testing stored procedures and database logic.
- Experience with relational databases and data analysis.
- Understanding of ETL concepts, tools, and practices.
- Experience validating large datasets, data imports, transformations, and extracts.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Four year degree or equivalent industry experience.
Technical Skills
Strong T SQL experience, including:
- NULL handling
- Subqueries, including IN, EXISTS, inline views, and correlated subqueries
- Primary keys, foreign keys, constraints, and defaults
- Error handling and error trapping
- Transactions
- BCP and BULK INSERT
- Database indexing
- Advanced stored procedures
- User defined functions
- Database triggers
- Views and temporary tables
- Common table expressions
- Data creation, extraction, and updates
