Job Details

Our client is a growing public accounting firm seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join its team. This is a hands-on opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working directly with clients and is looking to take on greater responsibility across both tax and accounting.

This role offers significant client interaction, exposure to a variety of accounting and tax matters, and the opportunity to continue developing professionally within a growing firm.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare tax planning analyses, projections, and supporting workpapers.
* Manage day-to-day accounting needs for an assigned portfolio of clients.
* Communicate directly with clients to obtain information needed for accounting and tax engagements.
* Respond to routine client questions and provide support on accounting and tax matters.
* Prepare and review journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and year-end engagements.
* Perform bank, general ledger, and other account reconciliations.
* Prepare trial balances, balance sheets, income statements, and financial statements.
* Analyze current and prior-year general ledger activity and financial results.
* Review income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings and recommendations.
* Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
* Maintain accurate accounting records by verifying, posting, reconciling, and resolving transactions and discrepancies.
* Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries.
* Maintain fixed asset schedules and related records.
* Conduct tax research and assist with federal and state tax matters.
* Research and respond to tax notices and related correspondence.
* Assist with tax agency matters as needed.
* Support other team members with accounting and tax software questions and technical issues.
* Help clients improve their accounting processes, financial infrastructure, and internal controls.
* Identify opportunities to improve client processes and support business growth.
* Participate in client internal control and audit-related engagements.
* Communicate ideas and recommendations to firm leadership regarding client needs and opportunities.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; MBA is a plus.
* Minimum 2 years of public accounting experience with exposure to tax and accounting.
* Registered Tax Preparer or Enrolled Agent credentials required.
* CPA certification or progress toward CPA is a plus.
* Strong proficiency with QuickBooks is required.
* Strong Excel skills and overall proficiency with Microsoft Office.
* Experience with tax preparation software is a plus.
* Solid understanding of bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and month-end/year-end close processes.
* Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and client engagements.
* Ability to perform financial analysis and identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities.
