Summary

Come start your career with some of the brightest and most innovative minds in the country. Get your hands on an actual project that is critical to our national security mission and prepare for a truly awesome career in aerospace and defense. As our Compliance Advisory Intern, you will play a crucial role in a high-priority initiative: preparing our organization for the mandatory Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) audit.

This is not your parent's internship program - you won't be getting coffee. Instead, you'll be an active member of our project team, working side-by-side with recognized industry experts to: Assist with the collection and organization of compliance evidence, review and help update critical security policies and documentation, support the team in conducting gap analyses against CMMC controls, and attend planning meetings, ask questions, and bring your ideas to the table.

Our interns have the unique experience of getting both mentoring and coaching on real-world assignments directly related to their field of study. You'll have the opportunity to learn fundamental business processes, build your technical foundation in cybersecurity and risk management, and participate in an in-depth program that includes cross-functional workshops and meetings with leadership. Bring your knowledge and desire to learn, and we will provide the experience.

This is a paid, 10-12 week summer internship starting in late May/early June, working an average of 40 hours a week. Based on performance, you may be considered for a full-time position upon graduation.

As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college or technical school, with at least 6 months until graduation after end of internship
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of compliance documentation for audits, assessments, and certifications.
Aid in preparing for internal and external assessments, including mock assessments and readiness reviews
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a unified CMMC and DFARS compliance strategy
  • Support the creation and delivery of training programs to educate employees on DFARS and CMMC requirements
  • Participate in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Federal Contract Information (FCI).
Help in maintaining the System Security Plan (SSP) to ensure it meets NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC requirements
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Strong organization skills and work ethic; detail oriented

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity compliance frameworks, particularly NIST 800-171, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), or CMMC
  • Relevant coursework in IT auditing, network security, or cybersecurity policy
  • Previous internship experience in an IT, cybersecurity, or another technical role
  • Progress towards or completion of an entry-level industry certification, such as the CompTIA Security+
  • Active participation or a leadership role in a technology or cybersecurity-focused student organization

This posting will be open for application for a minimum of 5 days and may be extended based on business needs.

SNC offers a generous benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 6%, life insurance, 3 weeks paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and more.
