Description Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support enterprise infrastructure with a focus on Active Directory, authentication services, and certificate management. This role will partner closely with infrastructure leadership to design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable identity and directory services.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, certificate authorities, and authentication frameworks, combined with strong scripting capabilities and a proactive, problem-solving mindset. This role requires ownership, collaboration across engineering teams, and the ability to operate in complex, multi-tiered environments.
Key Responsibilities
Identity & Directory Services
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, and Certificate Authority environments
- Manage authentication systems including ADFS, SAML, SSO, and Okta
- Administer certificate lifecycle management across enterprise systems
Infrastructure Engineering & Automation
- Develop PowerShell scripts to monitor system health and automate operations
- Support scalable infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments
- Implement Group Policy and role-based access management
Security & Compliance
- Apply NIST and DISA security standards and system hardening practices
- Manage certificate issuance and ensure zero-downtime implementation
- Apply patches, enforce compliance, and maintain system integrity
Operations & Support
- Provide Tier II / III support in Windows Server and Windows 11 environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues
- Maintain system documentation and architecture design artifacts
Collaboration & Optimization
- Work closely with engineering, system owners, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Identify process improvements and implement infrastructure optimizations
- Support project delivery, timelines, and operational priorities
Requirements Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of systems engineering or administration experience
- Strong expertise in Active Directory, DNS, and Certificate Management
- Experience with ADFS, Okta, or authentication platforms
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting
- Experience providing Tier II / III Windows support
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure AD / Entra ID
- Experience with DevOps tools and automation workflows
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP)
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or ITIL v3
- Experience working in security-focused environments
