The Impact You'll Have
The Senior Director of AI Transformation serves as BCBSMN's accountable leader for defining, building, and scaling AI products that deliver measurable business and member value. In partnership with Technology, own the vision, roadmap, and lifecycle of AI capabilities - ensuring they are usable, trusted, compliant, and continuously improved. The leader balances strategic clarity with hands-on product execution, translating enterprise priorities into AI products that solve real problems and drive outcomes across cost, growth, experience, and innovation.

This role connects business needs to technical delivery, overseeing an AI product portfolio, operationalizing Responsible AI practices, and orchestrating cross-functional teams to bring AI products from concept to scaled adoption.What You'll Do

  • Lead enterprise AI strategy and portfolio execution - set the roadmap, prioritize high-value initiatives, manage intake and governance, and track outcomes, ROI, and adoption.
  • Operationalize Responsible AI and scalable delivery - establish risk, readiness, vendor, and platform governance in partnership with Technology, Data, Legal, Compliance, and business leaders.
  • Drive enterprise adoption and change - stand up the AI COE, build AI fluency, coach leaders, activate cross-functional teams, and ensure AI solutions move from concept to scaled business impact.

How You'll Do It
  • Set enterprise AI strategy and multi-year roadmap; prioritizes initiatives.
  • Manage AI as an enterprise portfolio; establishes intake, prioritization, and stage gates; ensures outcome and benefit tracking and post-deployment monitoring.
  • Partner cross-functionally to integrate AI into business plans; drives accountability for adoption and results; coaches leaders.
  • Stand up and leads the AI COE; defines charter and reusable assets; attracts and develops multidisciplinary talent. Communicates progress and tradeoffs with clarity and credibility to ELT and Board.
  • Operationalize Responsible AI; establishes AI risk and readiness governance; embeds review into delivery workflows; standardizes vendor controls.
  • Partner with Technology, Data, and cloud providers to ensure data readiness and scalable AI platforms; governs strategic partnerships and vendor requirements.
  • Lead AI adoption and change management; executes AI fluency programs and training; establishes champion's network; measures adoption and usage.
  • Establish portfolio metrics, dashboards, and reporting; reports on ROI and adoption; advises senior leadership and the Board.
  • Perform additional responsibilities consistent with the scope and level of the role, as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive data analytics/business intelligence experience with 5+ years of management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree; in lieu of a degree, an additional two years of relevant experience beyond the qualifications listed above may be accepted.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Masters degree in related field
  • Ability to lead high-stakes communication across the organization, actively listen to anticipate risk and opportunity, and influence senior leadership through executive-level messaging.
  • Ability to analyze cross-functional challenges, align leaders on tradeoffs, and drive execution through stakeholder and team leadership.
  • Ability to effectively organize work, balance competing cross-functional priorities, and manage team execution across initiatives while enabling coordination across stakeholders.
  • Programming (Python) and SQL proficiency.
  • Predictive modeling / statistical analysis in ML workflows.
  • Experience with AWS tools / cloud platforms.
  • Experience with version control (example: Git Version Control system).
  • Experience with visualization tools (example: PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, etc.).
  • Experience with healthcare data / healthcare domain knowledge.

Hybrid
Role designation definition:
  • Teleworking is working full time remote.
  • Hybrid is a minimum of 2 days onsite.
  • Onsite is full-time onsite.

Compensation and Benefits
$175,900.00 - $241,800.00 - $307,700.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
