Summary

Old Mission is a global proprietary trading firm that leverages state-of-the-art technology and research to identify and execute profitable trading strategies across multiple asset classes around the world. Our offices in Chicago, New York, and London are all composed of naturally-curious individuals who thrive in a team environment and constantly strive for improvement.

About the Position

As our Head of CI/CD Engineering, you will own the strategy, architecture, and execution of our continuous integration and delivery pipelines. You'll lead the effort to build scalable, efficient, and reliable build, test, and deployment systems, leveraging Bazel as a core technology. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline our build, test, and deployment pipelines, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and reliability across our software projects.

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the CI/CD strategy and roadmap across engineering, aligning tooling and process with business and technical goals
  • Architect, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, using Bazel's build system as a foundation for automated testing, building, and deployment
  • Lead the design, configuration, and maintenance of Bazel build rules, macros, and toolchains, and guide teams through migrations onto the platform
  • Partner with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to identify pipeline bottlenecks and drive performance, scalability, and reliability improvements
  • Establish best practices, standards, and documentation for CI/CD workflows, and mentor engineers on their adoption
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex build and pipeline failures, acting as an escalation point for the broader team
  • Evaluate and integrate supporting tools (containerization, artifact management, testing frameworks) into the CI/CD ecosystem
  • Stay current on CI/CD and build-system trends (Bazel, containerization, deployment strategies) and champion continuous improvement across the org

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience designing, building, and leading CI/CD pipelines in a production environment
  • Proven experience with Bazel at scale, including build optimization and toolchain management
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, release engineering, and build/deploy methodologies
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers, and driving adoption of new tooling or process across teams
  • Proficiency with version control systems (Git, Mercurial, etc.) and build tools (Make, CMake, Bazel)
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Deep familiarity with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.)
  • Strong C++ or systems-level programming background
  • Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills; comfortable influencing without direct authority
  • Contributions to open-source build/CI tooling projects a plus

Benefits and Perks
  • Fully paid Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life Insurance
  • Fully stocked kitchen; free breakfast and lunch every day on-site
  • Tuition Reimbursement Program
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid Vacation, Sick, and Parental leaves
  • Commuter and Flexible Spending Programs

Base Salary Range

$175,000 to $225,000 - Salaries are based on numerous factors such as skills, experience, and education. Our compensation package also includes a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits program for full-time employees. For more information, reach out to your recruiter.
