Job Title: GIS Programmer/Analyst

Location: Remote (St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada)

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Programmer/Analyst (IT/GIS) – Level 2 with 7+ years of relevant experience to support a government-led initiative. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing secure GIS-enabled applications while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Gather and analyze business and technical requirements
Design and develop secure system and functional specifications
Develop, test, and implement applications and system enhancements
Create and modify code, screens, reports, and data structures
Perform unit, integration, system, and UAT testing
Conduct quality assurance and peer reviews
Support application integration, including security and vulnerability assessments
Liaise with business users to identify and deliver optimal solutions

GIS-Specific Responsibilities:

Apply GIS principles as a decision-support tool
Translate spatial requirements into functional GIS applications
Work with spatial databases and geospatial data systems
Develop and test GIS-based solutions and integrations

Required Skills:

7+ years of experience as Programmer/Analyst or similar role
Strong experience in GIS technologies and spatial data systems
Proficiency in application development, testing, and deployment
Experience with secure coding practices and system integration
Experience with data-driven applications and reporting systems

Nice to Have:

Experience in government or public sector projects
Familiarity with geospatial tools (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.)
Exposure to cloud or enterprise systems integration
