We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Analyst with strong technical expertise in REST APIs, microservices, AWS, SQL, API testing, and production troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have 6–9 years of experience working in enterprise technology environments and be comfortable analyzing complex distributed systems, documenting technical solutions, validating APIs, and partnering closely with business and technology teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex software solutions, system integrations, business processes, and microservice architectures.

  • Work extensively with REST APIs, JSON payloads, API integration patterns, and distributed microservices.

  • Perform hands-on API testing using Postman, Bruno, or equivalent tools.

  • Build and maintain API request collections, validate response contracts, troubleshoot API failures, and perform integration testing.

  • Participate in API versioning and migration initiatives, including impact analysis, consumer identification, contract comparison, regression testing, and validation.

  • Analyze production and non-production issues using Splunk, application logs, monitoring tools, and distributed tracing.

  • Investigate failures across service boundaries and communicate root-cause findings to development and technology teams.

  • Work with AWS services, including Lambda, Step Functions, S3, and SQS, and understand event-driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis.

  • Analyze and reverse-engineer Java/Spring Boot microservices to understand system behavior and dependencies; hands-on Java development is not required.

  • Create and maintain system flow diagrams, process maps, data mapping documents, microservice dependency maps, and solution architecture documentation.

  • Trace application and business data across relational and NoSQL data stores using SQL.

  • Develop detailed business and technical requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, developers, QA teams, and other technology partners to define and validate solutions.

  • Maintain technical documentation, architecture overviews, API migration guides, runbooks, onboarding documentation, and process flows in Confluence.

  • Use Jira for requirements, user stories, defects, and project tracking.

  • Support functional and integration testing activities and assist with test data generation and validation.

  • Coordinate application releases, including deployment readiness, scheduling, cross-team communication, and post-release validation.

  • Assist with identifying, isolating, resolving, and communicating application issues across production and non-production environments.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear documentation and communications for both technical and business audiences.

Required Qualifications

  • 6–9 years of professional experience as a Systems Analyst, Technical Systems Analyst, Technical Analyst, Integration Analyst, or similar role.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.

  • Strong working knowledge of REST APIs, RESTful services, JSON, and API integration patterns.

  • Hands-on experience with Postman, Bruno, or equivalent API testing tools.

  • Experience creating API request collections, validating response contracts, troubleshooting API failures, and performing API integration testing.

  • Experience with API versioning and API migration activities.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience tracing data across databases.

  • Hands-on experience with Splunk, including log analysis, incident investigation, distributed tracing, dashboards, and production monitoring.

  • Experience with AWS, particularly Lambda, Step Functions, S3, and SQS.

  • Understanding of event-driven architecture, with exposure to Kafka, Kinesis, or similar technologies.

  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and dependencies.

  • Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot microservices for system analysis, reverse engineering, and documentation.

  • Strong experience creating system flows, process maps, data mappings, architecture documentation, and microservice dependency diagrams.

  • Experience writing technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

  • Strong understanding of functional and integration testing concepts.

  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.

  • Strong communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with business and technology teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Financial services, banking, wealth management, brokerage, or investment management experience.

  • Experience with managed accounts or advisor/client platforms.

  • Experience with Cypress or similar testing frameworks.

  • Experience with Kafka or Kinesis event streams.

  • Experience with test data generation tools such as Hexawise.

  • Exposure to AI/ML products, recommendation systems, or supervised learning models.

  • Experience supporting enterprise production environments and coordinating application releases.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a technically strong Systems Analyst who can independently understand distributed applications, work directly with REST APIs, investigate production issues through Splunk, trace data using SQL, understand AWS and event-driven architectures, and document complex microservice environments clearly.
