Job Title: IT Project Manager (Information Technology Projects)

Location: Hybrid Pierre, SD 57501 (Quarterly onsite visits to Sioux Falls, SD)


Overview:

A public sector organization is seeking a qualified IT Project Manager to support multiple technology implementation initiatives across various program areas. Current projects include Provider Enrollment & Credentialing and large-scale system modernization efforts. Project scope may evolve based on organizational priorities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional teams of business and data analysts to oversee the design, development, and implementation of enterprise IT transformation projects
  • Assist in defining the strategic direction for enterprise-level technology initiatives
  • Gather and define business and technical requirements in collaboration with product owners, subject matter experts, and agile teams
  • Manage complex, large-scale IT projects as well as smaller initiatives from initiation through completion
  • Coordinate internal development teams and third-party vendors to ensure successful solution delivery
  • Support business and operations teams with analysis, testing, and system validation activities
  • Prepare and present project status reports, risk assessments, and documentation for leadership and stakeholders
  • Establish and enforce project governance frameworks and monitoring controls
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Mentor internal staff on project management practices and transition knowledge to state resources

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing information technology projects
  • PMP Certification or equivalent project management experience
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, DevOps, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience applying project governance and project management best practices
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with quarterly onsite visits to Pierre and/or Sioux Falls, SD
  • Experience working with government or large enterprise systems is a plus
