CAD / CAM Programmer - Hammond, IN

Job Summary
The CAD / CAM Programmer designs and develops programs using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software. This role ensures precision, efficiency, and quality in machine cutting solutions by generating and optimizing CNC machine code.
Key Responsibilities

• Create 2D and 3D models using CAD software based on engineering drawings and specifications


• Develop programs to generate toolpaths for CNC cutting machines


• Convert designs into machine-readable code


• Set up and optimize machining processes for efficiency and accuracy


• Simulate machining processes to detect errors or issues


• Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and production teams to refine designs


• Maintain documentation for programs, setups, and processes


• Ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., VersaFAB, or similar)


• Solid understanding of CNC machining and tooling


• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints


• Knowledge of G-code and M-code programming


• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail


• Good communication and teamwork skills

Education & Experience

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)


• 2+ years of experience in CAD/CAM programming or CNC machining

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ANC cutting machining


• Certification in CNC programming or CAD/CAM tools
