Summary

Job Description

The Sr. Manager, Epic IT Test Engineering is accountable for enterprise-wide Software Quality Assurance and Test Engineering across the supported product and application portfolio. This role leads the planning, coordination, and execution of testing activities to ensure all software solutions meet stringent standards for quality, regulatory compliance, security, and reliability. The position requires deep expertise in healthcare and financial regulatory frameworks-including HIPAA, CLIA/CAP, FDA, and SOX-to ensure systems remain compliant, audit-ready, and aligned with organizational goals.

The Sr. Manager provides strategic and operational leadership over personnel, processes, procedures, and tools. Responsibilities include championing continuous improvement, resolving quality impediments, and driving enhancements in functional, non-functional, and business-critical outcomes across the portfolio. The role requires strong technical leadership, enterprise influence, and a demonstrated ability to deliver transformational results.

*The position is based in Secaucus, NJ. Please note the work arrangement is hybrid (3 days in office & 2 days WFH).

Pay Range: $135 - $145/ year

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and manage the multi-year quality roadmap, ensuring alignment with portfolio strategies and organizational objectives.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies and plans for healthcare and finance-related applications.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Test Engineers and Test Leads to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of testing services.
  • Oversee all aspects of test delivery, including planning, estimation, resource management, scheduling, risk mitigation, test execution, test environment oversight, defect management, and KPI reporting.
  • Manage staff procurement, workforce planning, retention strategies, performance management, and career development.
  • Ensure all testing processes, documentation, and deliverables adhere to regulatory, security, and audit requirements and are fully reviewable and inspection-ready.
  • Prioritize and execute complex testing initiatives under aggressive timelines while maintaining quality, cost, and schedule commitments.
  • Establish, refine, and validate testing service offerings, quality standards, and process improvements to enhance organizational maturity.
  • Define, collect, and analyze KPI's (i.e. DRE, MTDD, Leakage) to measure testing effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely and accurate software releases by delegating work effectively and providing clear direction to team members.
  • Conduct risk assessments, ensuring mitigation plans are established for regulatory, compliance, and quality risks.
  • Maintain the integrity of test plans, test data (TDM), and test environments (TEM), ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for identifying automation opportunities and collaborate with Automation and DevSecOps teams on tool selection and implementation.
  • Provide ongoing test status reporting to the Director of Test Engineering and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure strong shift-left/shift-right quality strategy in collaboration with Development, Business Analysis, PMO, QE, Production Support, and Management to maintain clear requirements and traceability.
  • Lead root-cause analysis activities for nonconformances, validation failures, and defect leakage to production.
  • Continuously optimize testing processes for efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Prepare and deliver test metrics, progress updates, and compliance reporting to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Stay informed on emerging regulations, standards, and best practices relevant to healthcare and financial testing.
  • Strengthen GenAI governance for testing (model validation, hallucination, controls, auditability) with ROI tracking.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in a Software Development or Quality Assurance leadership role.
  • 8-10 years of experience in software development or quality assurance.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing organizational talent and resource portfolios.
  • Proven experience working in regulated healthcare environments.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC methodologies, including Agile Scrum/Kanban, testing practices, and quality engineering best practices.
  • Experience with CMMI, TMMI, Agile, and Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-level programs across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence at senior levels across technical and business domains.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and strategic execution capabilities.
  • Expertise in compliance-driven testing for regulated industries (FDA 21 CFR Parts 11).
  • Experience implementing GenAI tooling or innovation-focused programs.
  • Lead a team of approximately 8-20 personnel, including employees and contractors, located onshore and offshore.
  • Travel Required 10-15% as needed
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Analytics, Informatics, Healthcare or related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of software testing theories and practices
  • Expertise in Agile Scrum/Kanban
  • Experience with CMMI, TMMI, Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of CLIA/CAP, FDA 21 CFR Parts 820 and 11, ISO 13485, GAMP5, SOX, PCI DSS

Preferred:
  • ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA, or equivalent quality certifications
  • Epic system experience (e.g., MyChart, Beaker, Resolute)
