  • Experience: 5–7 years

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Associate degree with 10 years of experience; Master's degree with 3 years of experience

Position Contributions to the Work Group

  • Ensure the quality of supplied materials by conducting tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify quality issues.

  • Develop supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms.

  • Generate supplier quality reports by monitoring defect rates and identifying areas that could lead to potential quality issues.

  • Guide suppliers in reducing defect rates and improving overall quality performance.

  • Research potential vendors and assess their manufacturing environments, practices, and procedures.

  • Conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with organizational and federal policies and standards.

  • Support suppliers in improving their performance through process enhancements, implementation of process controls, and development of quality assurance plans.

  • Assess supplier quality and ensure products are free from defects and comply with manufacturing specifications and applicable legal standards.

Typical Task Breakdown

Supplier Evaluations and Certification

Knowledge of supplier evaluations and certification, with the ability to identify methods, tools, and documentation used for evaluating, selecting, and certifying vendors, suppliers, and partners.

Level – Working Knowledge:

  • Document and pursue results of reference calls or other sources for a specific supplier.

  • Participate in selecting and certifying a specific supplier and/or product.

  • Assist with the steps and procedures for supplier certification.

  • Research multiple sources of information regarding a supplier's or product's reputation.

  • Assess a product or service using predefined evaluation criteria.
