Summary

We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined Retail Point of Sale (POS) Integration Specialist to join our IT team. This role is responsible for supporting and maintaining critical integrations between retail petroleum point-of-sale systems and various enterprise applications, devices, and platforms.

The successful candidate will work with systems that support fuel pricing, environmental compliance, accounting, inventory management, tank monitoring, and digital price sign management. This position provides an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop specialized expertise in retail petroleum technology, systems integration, and technical support.

The ideal candidate possesses strong troubleshooting abilities, foundational networking knowledge, and a customer-focused mindset. This role serves as an entry point into our Tier 2 support organization, providing opportunities for technical growth and career advancement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations between retail petroleum POS systems and enterprise applications.

  • Support interfaces related to:

  • Fuel pricing systems

  • Environmental compliance platforms

  • Accounting and financial systems

  • Tank gauge and fuel inventory monitoring systems

  • Digital fuel price signs and related hardware

  • Investigate and resolve data transmission, synchronization, and interface issues.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot file-based integrations using formats such as XML, JSON, CSV, and fixed-width files.

  • Assist with API-based integrations and data exchange processes.

  • Support Windows-based systems and perform basic operating system and application troubleshooting.

  • Collaborate with vendors, field technicians, business stakeholders, and internal IT teams to resolve technical issues.

  • Document incidents, root causes, resolutions, and system configurations.


  • Participate in system testing, upgrades, software deployments, and integration projects.

  • Provide Tier 2 technical support and escalate issues when appropriate.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and operational documentation.

  • Participate in on-call or after-hours support as required.


Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience. 2 - 5 years of experience in a related field.

  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts.

  • Familiarity with file-based data interfaces, including:

  • XML

  • JSON

  • CSV

  • Fixed-width file formats

  • Basic Windows administration and troubleshooting skills.

  • Understanding of APIs and common web service concepts.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to problem resolution.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting retail POS systems or integrated business applications.


  • Knowledge of retail petroleum technologies and operations.

  • Experience with fuel management systems, tank gauges, or digital signage systems.

  • Familiarity with scripting or automation using:

  • PowerShell

  • Python

  • Bash

  • Windows Batch scripting

  • Basic SQL or database knowledge.

  • Experience working with system logs and monitoring tools.

  • Understanding of software integration concepts and data flows.
