Business Information Systems Analyst

Position Summary

We are seeking an Information Systems Analyst to support multiple applications across the department. This role focuses on bridging the gap between technical teams and end users facilitating communication, documentation, testing, and rollout activities rather than hands-on development work. This person would lead the QA & Testing of our systems in addition handing off some work to our users. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and excels at translating business needs into clear requirements while ensuring smooth adoption of technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Quality Assurance (Our expectation is that this is 50% of actual time spent)

• Personally test complex features of systems.
• Develop test plans and test cases based on requirements
• Coordinate and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Track defects, verify fixes, and document testing outcomes

Documentation

• Create and maintain system documentation including user guides, training materials, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
• Document application configurations, business rules, and data flows
• Keep technical and functional documentation current as systems evolve
  

User Communication & Change Management

• Serve as primary liaison between end users and technical teams
• Facilitate application rollouts including communication plans, training sessions, and go-live support
• Manage user expectations and provide timely status updates on issues and enhancements

Support & Coordination

• Triage user-reported issues and escalate to appropriate technical resources
• Assist with vendor coordination and third-party integrations
• Participate in project meetings and provide regular progress reports

Requirements & Analysis

• Gather, document, and refine business requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and observation
• Translate user needs into functional specifications and user stories
• Analyze existing workflows and recommend process improvements

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, QA Tester or similar role
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL specifically with data querying with respect to data quality analysis (is the information stored in the database accurate, reliable and complete?)
• Demonstrated experience with applications testing end to end, edge-case finding, unit testing, user acceptance testing.
• Demonstrated experience gathering requirements and writing functional documentation
• Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead meetings, workshops, and training sessions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

• Familiarity with project management tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar)
• Background in change management or organizational readiness
• Experience with workflow or case management systems
• Knowledge of Agile or iterative development methodologies
