Duties

Help

  • Power Engineering: Resolves power distribution issues across the lifecycle of DoD communications systems.
  • Hardware Expertise: Installs, commissions, and maintains Eaton, Vertiv, high-capacity AC UPS, and DC rectifier systems.
  • Rack Architecture: Designs rack elevations optimizing equipment placement, power density, weight, and cable management.
  • Project Lifecycle: Defines project scopes, drafts work statements, develops cost estimates, and tracks BOMs.
  • Quality and Compliance: Leads power outage planning, reviews technical deliverables, and ensures compliance with DoD specifications.

  • The incumbent of this position must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • This is a drug testing position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements:

GG-0855: Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statistics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics

OR

Combination of education and experience college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:

Qualifying Experience:

To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: experience applying engineering principles and to the resolution of power distribution issues; project planning and management; analyzing and system integration; defining cost estimate for task orders; reviewing and evaluate project deliverables.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-13 grade level.

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.

  • This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.
  • A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination
  • Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.
