Summary

As an Experienced Technical Analyst - Medicaid Provider+ at Gainwell, you can contribute your skills as we harness the power of technology to help our clients improve the health and well-being of the members they serve - a community's most vulnerable. Connect your passion with purpose, teaming with people who thrive on finding innovative solutions to some of healthcare's biggest challenges. Here are the details on this position.

The Experienced Technical Analyst - Medicaid Provider+ plays a critical role in supporting technical execution for MMIS Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) and/or the Medicaid Pharmacy environment. This role provides hands?on technical analysis, SQL development, data validation, integration support, and system troubleshooting across one or more functional domains, including Member, Provider, Claims (Medical, Dental, and/or Pharmacy), Utilization Management, Prior Authorization, Finance, and Plan/Care Management.

Working closely with Business Analysts (BAs), Configuration Analysts (CAs), conversion teams, and QA, the Technical Analyst ensures solutions are technically sound, data?driven, scalable, and aligned with system architecture. This role supports solution design, technical documentation, data setup, testing, performance tuning, and issue resolution throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Your role in our mission

Technical Analysis & Data Expertise

Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to support analysis, reporting, validation, and defect resolution. Perform in-depth data analysis and root-cause investigations to troubleshoot production and system issues. Extract, validate, and reconcile data across environments to support solutioning, QA, and testing. Support performance tuning by analyzing queries, execution plans, batch jobs, and throughput. Conduct smoke testing and post-release validation to ensure data integrity and system stability.

Data, Conversion & Integration Support

Collaborate with data conversion teams on migration planning, data loads, reconciliation, and validation. Ensure migrated data aligns with business and policy intent for accuracy and completeness. Validate configuration syncs (e.g., Redgate) across environments. Analyze and reconcile interface outputs, reports, extract files, and database feeds. Validate X12 EDI transactions (834, 837, 835, 820, 999/277) for structure and processing outcomes. Manage reference data and code sets, investigating discrepancies.

Solution Design & Technical Validation

Partner with Business Analysts to translate requirements into technical specifications and solution models. Leverage Data Element Dictionaries (DEDs) to understand data structures and dependencies. Document data flows, integration logic, and system interactions. Conduct feasibility analysis, identifying constraints, data impacts, and integration considerations. Participate in design workshops and present technical insights or solution gaps to governance forums (ARB, CCB).

Testing & Deployment Support

Support SIT, UAT, parallel, and performance testing through data validation and system monitoring. Assist with test data setup, validation scripts, and reconciliation. Analyze and resolve defects related to data, interfaces, configuration, and performance. Support deployment, cutover, hypercare, and post-production issue resolution.

Collaboration, Communication & Leadership

Act as a technical liaison across Business Analysts, developers, QA, configuration, conversion teams, and operations. Communicate findings, risks, and solutions clearly to stakeholders. Collaborate on data mappings and configuration validation. Mentor junior analysts on SQL, troubleshooting, and documentation best practices. Lead sub-tracks within technical workstreams to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

Expected Outcomes

Accurate, actionable technical and data insights supporting design and testing decisions

Clear documentation of data flows, integrations, dependencies, and solution gaps
