SQL Server Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Data & Analytics Specialist to join a high-performing team supporting complex Legal Services projects. This role is responsible for developing, supporting, and optimizing robust SQL Server solutions that drive business insights and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can independently design and implement technical solutions while collaborating closely with Solutions Architects, Project Managers, and business stakeholders. Success in this role requires strong analytical capabilities, advanced SQL expertise, adaptability in fast-paced environments, and the ability to solve complex, sometimes under-defined problems with confidence and creativity.

Responsibilities

• Develop, debug, test, and optimize advanced T-SQL code to solve a wide range of technical and analytical challenges
• Analyze, interpret, standardize, and conform complex datasets using effective data processing strategies
• Collaborate with internal team members to validate data sufficiency and ensure alignment on project requirements
• Partner with Solutions Architects to design and implement customized data processing solutions for client projects
• Interface directly with business stakeholders to gather, clarify, and refine technical and functional requirements
• Tune and optimize SQL queries and database performance to support large-scale data operations
• Manage and prioritize multiple assignments while meeting project deadlines and communicating progress, risks, and obstacles effectively
• Contribute to solution design discussions and recommend best practices for database development and analytics processes

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience leading the development of technical solutions
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred
• Strong ability to understand complex business processes and translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
• Comfortable operating in consultative environments and presenting solutions clearly to stakeholders
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and evolving business needs
• Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a collaborative approach

Technical Skills

• 10+ years of experience working with SQL Server and/or other relational database platforms
• Advanced to expert-level proficiency in SQL Server and T-SQL development
• Extensive experience tuning complex T-SQL queries and optimizing database/server performance
• Experience analyzing and working with very large, complex datasets
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data transformation, and database best practices
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and performance-related issues

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting Legal Services or highly regulated environments
• Exposure to enterprise-scale data analytics and reporting initiatives
• Familiarity with performance monitoring and database optimization tools
