Job Description

The Section Manager will lead the AI and Automation Delivery team in the CES Digital Products organization, responsible for the successful execution and implementation and ongoing support of AI and automation use cases for business organizations. This role provides direct oversight of the project lifecycle for AI and automation solutions, from intake to final delivery.

This role functions at the intersection of business needs and technology, with a primary focus on the rapid and effective identification and delivery of solutions. The successful manager in this role will be dedicated to identifying and executing on prioritized use cases that provide immediate value to business units, ensuring that all projects align with the enterprise technical and operational standards.

The Section Manager will oversee the development and delivery of AI/Automation solutions, ensuring that their team has the necessary technical proficiency to execute on project goals and customer requirements. This leadership role is centered on managing the successful delivery of a portfolio of AI and automation cases through a functional support model that connects business requirements and the technical implementation of solutions.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a high-performing agile team focused on the discovery and delivery of AI and Automation solutions. Drive the successful implementation of AI/Automation use cases for business organizations, ensuring a rapid-delivery, value-focused approach directly supporting operational goals.
• Drive AI and Innovation Strategy. Lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of AI, machine learning, and emerging technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, business decision-making, and customer outcomes across CES initiatives.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with key business partners, application teams and internal resources to ensure the data portfolio adheres to established company standards including critical cyber safety and data protection practices. Provide consistent, periodic updates to stakeholders on key initiatives, progress, and challenges across the CES digital portfolio.
• Develop appropriations, business cases, and investment proposals while tracking benefits realization, operational efficiencies, and return on investment for technology initiatives.
• Lead the development of technology white papers and business justification documents to evaluate emerging capabilities, support development decisions, secure funding approvals, and guide adoption of technology solutions into business operations.
• Lead a high functioning team in the full use case delivery cycle for technology adoption into business organizations. These teams will be responsible for POC through business delivery and support models necessary to transition technical capabilities into business operations.
• Build, mentor, and coach a diverse, high-performing technical team, supporting technical leads in their professional growth. With this team, foster a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous learning and collaboration.
• Resource Planning and Budget: Oversee resource allocation and project budgets within departmental guidelines, including administrative oversight of contractors and staff augmentees.
• Establish and Execute Data Architecture Vision: Define, champion and deliver the strategic data and analytics architecture in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and future-proof to support evolving CES needs.
• Provide administrative and operational oversight, managing resource allocation, project budgets, and vendor/contractor utilization within departmental guidelines. Ensure that all systems, portfolios, and deliverables designed by the verticals strictly adhere to company standards, including critical cyber safety, data governance, and data protection practices.
• Act as the primary bridge between technical verticals, business operations, and senior leadership to drive program execution and program alignment. Lead the team in establishing clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and report the tangible ROI of data, automation, and platform initiatives, demonstrating proven business value to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

• Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 8 years related experience.

Relevant Work Experience

• 3-5 years Demonstrated experience developing and managing comprehensive data governance practices including data quality management, privacy standards, and strategic data accessibility frameworks, required.
• 3-5 years Experience directing or leading technical initiatives within clean energy, energy efficiency, distributed energy resources or electrification portfolios with a proven ability to translate clean energy business objectives into advanced digital products and capabilities, required.
• 3-5 years Demonstrated ability to develop and execute on an accelerated evaluation and selection process for technologies with a key focus on targeted delivery metrics, preferred.
• 3-5 years Experience leading complex software deployment cycles and overseeing strict quality assurance frameworks, cyber safety controls and system testing processes, preferred.
• 3-5 years Demonstrated experience building or overseeing modern MLOps pipelines, AI/Machine Learning and automated workflow solutions through the full delivery cycle, preferred.
• 3-5 years Experience leading the end-to-end technology development lifecyclefrom conceptualization and design through a delivery and ongoing support model for successful business adoption. Proven ability to lead digital initiatives that optimize operations, eliminate manual task-based workflows, and drive organization-wide consistency through standardized digital processing of records and data for utilization in business analytics applications, preferred.
• Exceptional communication skills with a track record of managing high level stakeholder relationships, presenting complex program statuses and roadmaps clearly to leadership teams and fostering collaboration between business units and enterprise technology groups, preferred.
