Summary

Position Overview: As a Senior Hardware Quality Engineer at Berkshire Grey, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our advanced robotic systems. You will be responsible for leading quality assurance initiatives, developing and implementing rigorous testing protocols, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in hardware design and manufacturing processes. This position requires a deep understanding of hardware engineering principles, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and execute testing protocols for the firmware functions and features
Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to address quality issues.
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle.
Develop and maintain quality documentation, including test plans, test reports, and inspection procedures.
Interface with outside vendors and suppliers as necessary to support product quality
Drive RMA reviews, investigations, testing data collection, and share findings with the organization.
Investigate and troubleshoot product or production issues.
Lead and sign off on the ECO process and design reviews.
Review engineering drawings and design change documentation for compliance with internal standards
Participate in design reviews to provide quality input.
Lead Verification & Validation planning and execution of hardware design changes
Ensure that defects and failures are identified and tracked to resolution through industry-standard defect tracking and resolution tools.
Support the design and implementation of test fixturing required for product testing.
Analyze data from various sources to identify trends and drive data-driven decision-making.
Develop benchmark testing for standardizing system acceptance activities

Skills/Technical Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hardware quality engineering, preferably in the robotics or automation industry.
Proven track record of leading quality assurance initiatives and improving product quality.
Strong knowledge of hardware testing methodologies, tools, and equipment.
Highly skilled with analysis tools/methods; experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Kibana preferred.
Experience with reliability plans and testing preferred.
Experienced in problem-solving tools/methods such as DOE, Fault trees, Fishbone, 5 whys, etc.
Experienced in risk management tools such as DFMEA/PFMEA.
Experienced using a PLM tool such as Omnify.
Good knowledge and experience with verification and validation testing and production test equipment qualification.
Strong knowledge of product development tollgate processes.
Strong organization and communication skills.
Must have the temperament to work effectively in a matrix organization and the confidence to stand firm on critical customer/quality requirements.
