Oracle Cloud HCM Lead
Location: San Francisco, CA Prefer local candidates; open to remote
Duration: 6 months, with the expectation that the consultant will support the team through the transition to a permanent hire
Position Overview
Client is seeking an experienced Oracle Cloud HCM Lead to provide senior-level leadership and management for its Oracle Cloud HCM environment. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing the ongoing support, stabilization, and optimization of the recently deployed Oracle Cloud HCM platform.
The organization recently went live and is currently in the stabilization phase. The initial implementation has resulted in a number of ongoing issues, and UCSF has an established team of approximately 7 8 full-time employees and consultants supporting the environment.
The Oracle Cloud HCM Lead will manage this team, establish priorities, ensure effective issue resolution, and serve as a key liaison between the HCM team, business stakeholders, senior leadership, and executives.
This is a pure management and leadership position. The successful candidate does not need to be hands-on technically, but must have strong knowledge of Oracle Cloud HCM and the ability to effectively lead a team of functional/technical professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of approximately 7 8 Oracle Cloud HCM professionals, including employees and consultants.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for the ongoing support and stabilization of the Oracle Cloud HCM environment.
- Manage priorities, workload, escalations, and resource allocation across the HCM support team.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand priorities, address concerns, and ensure the HCM team is aligned with organizational needs.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for leadership and executive stakeholders regarding Oracle Cloud HCM.
- Provide clear and timely communication on system issues, risks, priorities, progress, and resolution plans.
- Oversee the ongoing optimization and enhancement of the Oracle Cloud HCM platform.
- Ensure effective processes are followed for incident management, issue resolution, prioritization, and ongoing support.
- Help drive accountability across the team and ensure issues are appropriately tracked through resolution.
- Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve the stability, performance, and supportability of the HCM environment.
- Work collaboratively with business, IT, vendors, consultants, and other stakeholders to resolve complex issues.
- Maintain visibility into the overall health and support needs of the Oracle Cloud HCM environment.
- Support knowledge transfer and transition activities as UCSF recruits and onboards a permanent leader for the position.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience leading and managing teams in an Oracle Cloud HCM environment.
- Demonstrated people-management experience, including direct reports and responsibility for team performance and delivery.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle Cloud HCM modules, excluding Payroll and Benefits.
- Experience supporting Oracle Cloud HCM in a post-go-live, production, stabilization, or optimization environment.
- Strong executive presence and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technology and system issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills with the ability to work effectively with business leaders and executives.
- Proven ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple issues and initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a high-visibility environment with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading Oracle Cloud HCM teams through post-go-live stabilization.
- Experience managing a blended team of employees, contractors, and/or consultants.
- Experience working in a large, complex enterprise or healthcare environment.
- Experience managing vendors or third-party implementation/support partners.
- Experience transitioning an organization from implementation to a sustainable ongoing support model.
Important Note
Hands-on implementation experience is not required. UCSF has already completed its Oracle Cloud HCM implementation and is currently focused on stabilization, ongoing support, issue resolution, and optimization. The primary focus of this role is people leadership, stakeholder management, prioritization, communication, and operational oversight.
The ideal candidate is a strong Oracle Cloud HCM leader who can quickly step into a high-visibility management role, provide stability to the existing team, build confidence with business and executive stakeholders, and ensure effective knowledge transfer to the permanent hire.
