Remote QA Engineer/Manager-eCommerce

Title: Remote QA Engineer- eCommerce Platform
Location: Miami FL, Dallas TX, Washington, Minnesota, Atlanta GA
Duration: 1 year/contract to Hire
Must be in driving distance to HUB CITY OFFICE for meetings.
Strong Playwright Automation Experience — REQUIRED
E-commerce / Checkout / Payment Experience

Strong preference for candidates who understand the customer journey involving:

Product → Shopping Cart → Checkout → Payment → Transaction Completion

Direct e-commerce experience is preferred.

However, the manager is open to candidates who have tested internal applications with similar checkout, transaction, ordering, or payment workflows, even if the application was not consumer-facing e-commerce.

3. Senior QA Background

Approximately 6–8 years of QA experience was discussed as a good target.

Important: The 6–8 year range was suggested during the recruiting discussion and was not stated by the hiring manager as a strict cutoff.

Focus more heavily on the candidate's depth of QA automation experience and Playwright expertise than an exact number of years.

STRONG PLUSES

These are helpful but should not eliminate an otherwise strong Playwright candidate.

• Tosca experience
• Client currently uses Tosca.
• The organization plans to migrate toward Playwright.
• Tosca experience could be especially valuable during that transition.
• AI tools / AI-assisted QA experience
• Hands-on experience using AI tools is desired.
• Experience using AI in testing, automation, framework development, or productivity would be valuable.
• Exact AI expectations are still being clarified.
• Experience designing, enhancing, or planning automation frameworks.
• Exposure to:

• React micro-frontends / React MFE

Screening Questions

1️⃣ Playwright

Ask:

• How long have you been using Playwright?
• What have you automated with it?
• Have you built or maintained Playwright test suites/frameworks?
• Are you currently using Playwright hands-on?

2️⃣ E-commerce / Checkout / Payments

Determine whether they have tested:

• Shopping carts
• Checkout workflows
• Payments
• Transactions
• Order processing
• Payment failures
• Customer purchasing journeys

Internal transactional applications may also qualify.

3️⃣ Automation Depth

Look for candidates who can discuss:

• Automation framework development
• Test case creation
• Regression automation
• API/UI testing
• Debugging failed automation
• Maintaining automated test suites

4️⃣Tosca

Helpful but not required.

A strong Playwright candidate without Tosca should still be considered.

5️⃣ AI Experience

Ask whether they have used AI tools for:

• QA/testing
• Automation development
• Test-case generation
• Coding assistance
• Framework development
• QA productivity

Technical Environment

Candidates may be working around applications using:

• Playwright
• Tosca
• AWS
• Microservices
• React micro-frontends

Again, Playwright is the core technology recruiters should prioritize.

Interview Process

Expected process:

Round 1 — Technical Interview
Technical interview with members of the QA/team.

Round 2 — Hiring Manager / Team Interview
Interview with the hiring manager and additional team members.

A third technical interview may be added if needed.
