Software Resources has an immediate job opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst – Distribution Analytics with a major corporation in Burbank, CA.

Duration
:   3–6+ months
Pay Rate: $62 - $72/hr DOE

  • Core requirement:
    • Heavy Excel/data management expertise (advanced level)
    • Ability to manage large datasets (~5,000+ rows) and perform analysis
  • Key characteristics:
    • Detail-oriented, analytical, able to identify inconsistencies in data
    • More experienced profile (not entry-level)
    • Ability to interpret data and provide insights—not just manipulate it
  • Nice-to-have:
    • Familiarity with theatrical/distribution industry
    • Comfort suggesting better tools/platforms beyond Excel


Department / Group Overview:
Studios Motion Pictures is seeking a highly analytical individual with advanced Excel expertise to support both Domestic and International Distribution teams. This role partners closely with distribution leads and global market teams to manage and analyze large datasets that inform theatrical planning and execution.
The position requires strong data management and analytical capabilities, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple levels of the organization and international markets. An understanding of theatrical infrastructure (e.g., screen size, sound, and light levels) is helpful in providing context for analysis and supporting decision-making.

Job Summary:
This role is responsible for managing and analyzing a large, complex database to support data-driven decision-making for theatrical distribution. The individual will perform detailed and high-level analytics, translating data into actionable insights that help inform planning and execution across global markets.
The role requires a proactive, independent contributor who can work across multiple stakeholders, identify data gaps or issues, and support problem-solving and decision-making through clear analysis and communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of ownership for data management, maintaining a large, detailed database and ensuring accuracy, completeness, and integrity of information
  • Gather, review, and organize data from multiple sources to support analysis and reporting for domestic and international distribution teams
  • Perform detailed and high-level analysis to evaluate theatrical planning scenarios and determine optimal outcomes by market and globally
  • Apply analytical insights to support decision-making, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities across markets
  • Proactively identify data gaps, inconsistencies, or market challenges, and work with stakeholders to address and resolve issues
  • Support execution of analysis against planning strategies while adapting to real-time market conditions
  • Partner closely with distribution leads, regional teams, and film operations to ensure alignment on data, reporting, and insights
  • Act as a liaison across stakeholders, including executives and international markets, to facilitate clear and consistent information sharing
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders across multiple levels
  • Leverage advanced Excel skills to build, maintain, and refine models and analyses that support planning and performance evaluation
  • Independently manage analytical workstreams and projects from start to finish, maintaining momentum and delivering results in a timely manner
  • Collaborate across functions and regions to support shared goals and ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, business planning, or another quantitative field preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to effectively gather and manage data and work with pivot tables containing numerous variables and iterations
  • Strong Excel modeling capabilities, with experience building and working within complex models
  • High level of comfort working with large and complex datasets in Excel
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across a wide variety of stakeholders and markets
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team environment
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, ask insightful questions, and seek out answers


Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Understanding of the domestic theatrical landscape from a technical perspective (e.g., screen size, light levels, sound) is helpful
  • Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to manage detailed work and communicate status effectively to all levels
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented work style
  • Ability to independently lead projects from start to finish, maintaining momentum and driving outcomes
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities effectively


Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong logic, math, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to resolving issues
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, SUMIFS, INDEX-MATCH) and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience handling large volumes of data and translating analysis into actionable insights
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and functions
  • Bachelor''s degree in accounting, finance, business, or another analytical field


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a motion picture studio or theatre chain is a plus


Education:

  • Bachelor''s degree in accounting, finance, business, or another analytical field required
  • MBA or CPA preferred
