Test Architect

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Test Architect in Maryland Heights, CO.

Summary:
The Test Architect will support Mobile IT initiatives by owning the end-to-end test strategy and technical test planning for assigned features. This role serves as the quality advocate and pseudo subject-matter expert throughout the SDLC-starting in grooming sessions and remaining accountable through deployment and post-production support. A strong manual testing foundation, excellent communication skills, and prior experience in complex mobile or network-driven environments are critical. Mobile network experience is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities:
* Test Architect will own the overall technical understanding and test strategy for assigned features from grooming through production and post-deployment support
* Actively participate in business and technical grooming sessions (40-50% of time), ensuring requirements are fully understood and quality impacts are considered early
* Serve as the voice of QA and the product during planning, proactively identifying gaps, dependencies, and downstream impacts
* Create and maintain high-level test scenarios and test plans, serving as the source of truth for quality strategy
* Manage handoff of test scenarios to integration testing teams and provide ongoing guidance throughout test execution
* Support testers across multiple teams by clarifying requirements, validating test plans, and recommending appropriate test approaches (e.g., smoke testing, regression scope)
* Guide testers during execution, answering questions related to requirement intent, edge cases, and expected outcomes
* As a Test Architect, you will remain tied to assigned features after deployment, supporting defect triage and long-term issue resolution
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners including product, engineering, integration testing, and QA teams

REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong manual testing background with experience in test architecture, test strategy, or QA leadership roles
* Hands-on experience working in Agile SDLC environments with heavy involvement in grooming and planning sessions
* Extensive experience using JIRA and Confluence (Atlassian suite) for documentation and test management
* Experience testing RESTful APIs, including creating and executing requests using tools such as Postman or cURL
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, challenge requirements, and collaborate across teams
* Comfort working in an API-heavy environment (approximately 70% API testing, 30% UI testing)
* Exposure to automation concepts and tooling, with openness to transitioning from manual to automated testing over time
* Ability to think critically about edge cases, system impacts, and integration dependencies
* Mobile network experience is a significant plus

Preferred Skills:
* Prior experience supporting mobile carriers or large-scale mobile network platforms
* Experience with Oracle and/or MongoDB databases
* Familiarity with Splunk for log analysis and troubleshooting
* Background working with complex, distributed systems and integration-heavy architectures

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
