Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced HR Generalist – Benefits & Leave of Absence (LOA) to support employees with benefits administration, leave management, accommodations, and HR compliance. This is a fully remote opportunity for candidates located in California.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Benefits Administration, Leave of Absence (LOA), ADA/FMLA compliance, HRIS systems, vendor management, and HR process improvement. This role also requires developing documentation, creating standard operating procedures (SOPs), and transferring knowledge to internal HR teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, COBRA, wellness, and voluntary benefits.
- Handle Leave of Absence (LOA) cases including FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, parental leave, military leave, personal leave, and state-specific leave programs.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees, managers, and third-party vendors regarding benefits and leave matters.
- Partner with Payroll, Legal, HR Operations, and Benefits vendors to ensure compliance and seamless employee support.
- Support benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, escalations, and employee communications.
- Develop SOPs, workflows, process documentation, manager guides, FAQs, and training materials.
- Improve HR processes, reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Train and mentor internal HR team members to build long-term organizational capability.
- Ensure accurate HRIS data management and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience.
- 3+ years of dedicated Benefits Administration and/or Leave of Absence experience.
- Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, STD/LTD, and multi-state leave laws.
- Experience working with third-party leave administrators and benefits vendors.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms such as Workday, Paycom, or similar systems.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential employee matters with professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting a geographically dispersed workforce.
- Experience in Financial Services, FinTech, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience creating HR documentation, SOPs, workflows, and training materials.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and knowledge transfer experience.
