Hybrid Fully Remote until West LA office opens - then 3x a week onsite in Los Angeles, CA

Our client seeks a Principal Mobile Engineer to lead architecture and hands-on development for iOS with solid Android collaboration. The role owns mobile strategy, engineering standards, and delivery of secure, scalable, and intuitive consumer experiences. You will partner with Product, Design, Backend, Data, and AI teams to ship AI-enabled features such as personalization, intelligent automation, and predictive insights. This position is structured hybrid with an expectation of three days per week in office after the West LA office opens.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $70.00 to $75.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Lead architecture and development of native iOS applications to achieve performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Provide technical direction for Android to ensure cross-platform consistency and quality.
  • Define and enforce mobile engineering standards, patterns, and reusable components.
  • Implement on-device and cloud-based ML capabilities within mobile experiences.
  • Develop iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, Combine, and UIKit.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, Data, AI, and QA to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines and advance crash analytics and performance monitoring.
  • Implement observability with Datadog, and use tools including Firebase and Xcode Instruments.
  • Mentor engineers and elevate iOS and Android development practices.
  • Translate product requirements into scalable, secure mobile solutions.
  • Operate in an AI-driven SDLC leveraging tools such as GitHub Copilot and Xcode AI integrations.
  • Implement and manage Datadog dashboards, Adobe Analytics, and monitors and alerts for mobile apps.

Experience Requirements:
  • 10+ years of mobile development with 3+ years of technical leadership focused on iOS.
  • Expert proficiency in Swift, SwiftUI, Combine, and UIKit.
  • Working knowledge of Kotlin and Android architecture components.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Git, Fastlane, and Firebase.
  • Familiarity with App Store and Google Play processes including TestFlight and internal testing tracks.
  • Experience with cloud-connected mobile architecture on Azure or AWS.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, OAuth2, and mobile security best practices.
  • Proficiency implementing accessibility per WCAG and ARIA for inclusive mobile design.
  • Proven experience implementing and managing Datadog dashboards and Adobe Analytics for mobile.
  • Experience with automated testing, unit testing, TDD, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with mobile analytics, crash reporting, and user behavior tracking.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment with AI-enhanced workflows.
  • Strong project organization skills including budgeting and scope.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Preferred: fintech or consumer mobile experience, knowledge of payments, identity verification, and push systems, and contributions to open source or publications.
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Must meet the Los Angeles, CA location requirement.
