Summary
SAM manager and Software license specialist
Location: Remote, but candidate preferred in NJ
Metro Park, NJ preferred location
Long term Contract
Develops and maintains an accurate, complete database to track the status of software applications related to entitlements, rights, renewals, true ups and reclamations. Additionally, licensing Specialist requires an understanding of software contracts and their relationships with software entitlements.
Responsible for:
• Managing the day-to-day activities of the process.
• Managing key relationships with peer roles
• Ensuring quality of software asset records within the Asset Management Repository, including Software Discovery Models, Software Product Models, and Software Entitlements.
• Gathering and reporting on process metrics.
• Executing reconciliation by comparing entitlements with discovered software installations to determine effective license positions for each in-scope publisher
• Analyzing reconciliation reports to determine required actions to address non-compliant software installations.
• Analyzing software usage reports and establishing removal rules for infrequently used software
• Delivering effective license positions (ELP) for each in-scope publisher to the business (Including and not limited to IBM and Oracle products)
Current State
- ServiceNow SAM module was deployed 1–2 years ago
- Effort underway to centralize all software licenses — previously a decentralized process, which created a backlog
- Work involves locating licenses, coordinating with license owners, and transferring/recording them properly in ServiceNow
- Progress: ~35% complete; team needs a dedicated resource to own this (current staff are "chasing their tails")
- An open question raised: what is the actual usage of the licenses (utilization data needed to inform reconciliation/ELP work)
