Senior Software Engineer (.NET / C# / SQL Server)
Location: Remote (Continental United States)
Duration: 8-Month Contract with Potential Extensions
Travel: Occasional travel required (up to 2 trips per quarter based on business needs)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support the enhancement, maintenance, and ongoing operational support of a mission-critical enterprise application used to manage complex case evaluations and business processes within a highly regulated environment.
This role will focus primarily on enhancing and maintaining an existing web-based application rather than developing a new platform. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, Agile development methodologies, and enterprise application support.
The selected consultant will work as an embedded member of an Agile development team, collaborating closely with developers, QA analysts, operations personnel, and business stakeholders to deliver enhancements, improve reporting capabilities, and support ongoing maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities
Software Development
  • Design, develop, and implement enhancements to an existing enterprise application
  • Modify and improve existing functionality based on business requirements
  • Develop and maintain applications using:

o C#
o ASP.NET
o SQL Server
  • Create, modify, and optimize stored procedures
  • Participate in application architecture and technical design discussions
  • Analyze and resolve production and application issues

Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Perform unit testing on all assigned development work
  • Participate in integration, acceptance, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects identified during testing
  • Ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability

Database Development
  • Develop and maintain SQL Server database objects
  • Create and optimize stored procedures, queries, and database performance
  • Support data integrity and reporting requirements

Documentation & Reporting
  • Document application enhancements and code changes
  • Provide written and verbal project status updates
  • Maintain technical documentation and development artifacts

Agile Team Collaboration
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including:

o Sprint Planning
o Daily Standups
o Sprint Reviews
o Retrospectives
  • Collaborate closely with:

o Software Developers
o QA Teams
o Operations Teams
o Business Stakeholders
Production & Environment Support
  • Support application deployments and release activities
  • Coordinate with operations teams to maintain development and production environments
  • Assist with application maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field

Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in software development, systems design, and programming
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with:

o C#
o ASP.NET
o SQL Server
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working within Agile environments, including Scrum and/or Kanban methodologies
  • Experience developing, modifying, and supporting enterprise applications

Technical Skills
  • Strong proficiency in:

o C#
o ASP.NET
o SQL Server
o Stored Procedure Development
o Database Performance Tuning
  • Experience with application integrations and APIs
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices
  • Experience supporting production applications and operational environments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with protected or sensitive data, including understanding of data security and privacy best practices
  • Experience with:

o API integrations
o Enterprise application modernization
o Legacy application support
o Performance optimization
  • Experience supporting highly regulated environments such as healthcare, government, or public sector organizations
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Work Environment
  • Primarily remote position
  • Candidates must reside within the continental United States
  • Occasional travel may be required based on project needs
