Description

SAIC is seeking a Windows Automation Engineer to join our team in support of the Department of the Air Force's (DAF) Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure Processing Node (DIPN) Product Line Team. ABMS represents the DAF's cutting-edge initiative designed to enable flexible, next-generation command and control (C2) operations and to execute synchronized, multi-domain missions in the broader Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) framework.

The DIPN Product Line Team delivers foundational systems like the Deployable Digital Infrastructure (DDI) and Fixed Digital Infrastructure (FDI) to the warfighter, ensuring the availability of critical tools and systems in diverse operational environments. As a Windows Automation Engineer, you will apply your in-depth knowledge of Windows technologies, coupled with automation expertise, to design, implement, and maintain advanced automation and integration solutions critical to the success of DAF missions.

Job Responsibilities

The Windows Automation Engineer will:
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for production-grade software across diverse Windows environments, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain advanced automation solutions using PowerShell and PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC).
  • Integrate and manage on-premises Windows infrastructure with cloud-based services, designing hybrid solutions for seamless operations.
  • Provision and manage resources in AWS, including networking, compute, and storage requirements.
  • Automate Windows Hardening processes to comply with DISA STIG and other enterprise/government standards.
  • Analyze gaps in current Windows technology solutions and design strategies to bridge those gaps while ensuring compliance with established security and technical standards.
  • Implement solutions following RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) principles, least-privileged access, authentication/authorization protocols, PKI and certificate management, secure networking, containerization workflows, and container image scanning tools.
  • Document processes and procedures in a clear, thorough, and unambiguous manner to ensure consistent adoption and knowledge transfer.
  • Participate in and contribute to Agile ceremonies, including sprint and Program Increment (PI) planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with teammates and provide actionable feedback to support the team's overall objectives and success.

Qualifications

The Windows Automation Engineer position requires:
  • Education & Experience: A bachelors degree and 9 years of hands-on experience working independently with Windows environments, infrastructure automation, and hybrid deployment solutions.
  • Core Technical Skills:
    • Strong expertise in developing and managing CI/CD pipelines for Windows-based software solutions.
    • Advanced Windows PowerShell and PowerShell DSC scripting and automation experience.
    • Proven ability to provision and manage AWS cloud resources, including AWS CLI, and hybrid on-premises/cloud integration.
    • Proficiency in Windows Hardening in compliance with DISA STIGs to meet security requirements.
    • Experience in designing secure solutions with least-privilege access, RBAC, authentication frameworks, PKI, and networking principles.
    • Familiarity with containerization technologies and tools for secure container image scanning.
  • Certifications:
    • DoD 8570 Level 2 certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+) or equivalent.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Strong hands-on experience with:
      • HashiCorp products (Terraform, Vault, etc.).
      • Git workflows for version control and collaboration.
      • AWS CLI for resource management and solution deployment.
      • Windows Virtualization technologies.
  • Security Clearance: Secret or above

Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced monitoring, fault analysis, and troubleshooting in hybrid IT environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and participation in iterative engineering cycles, including sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Expertise in scaling Windows automation and integration efforts within a multidisciplinary team environment.
