Summary

JIRA Migration SME

Long Term Hybrid project in Albany NY

Location:  Albany, NY (Hybrid – Monday Tuesday onsite + alternating Fridays)

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

·       Lead discovery and migration planning with ELM SMEs, delivery teams, and Jira stakeholders; define scope, dependencies, risks, cutover, and rollback approach.

·       Design Jira target projects, issue types, fields, workflows, permissions, and relationships to support requirements and traceability needs.

·       Map and transform source records, custom attributes, status histories, links, comments, attachments, and other agreed-upon metadata into Jira, documenting platform limitations.

·       Select and configure migration utilities; build and execute REST API integrations, scripts, and repeatable extraction, transformation, and loading processes.

·       Perform proof-of-concept and pilot migrations, reconcile record counts and field-level results, resolve defects, and support user acceptance testing.

·       Execute production migration and post-cutover stabilization while minimizing disruption to program delivery.

·       Produce mapping specifications, migration runbooks, validation evidence, operational documentation, and knowledge transfer.

Required Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree

·       8+ years of related experience

·       Demonstrated hands-on ownership of at least one completed migration from a comparable enterprise platform into Jira; must be able to explain personally executed technical work.

·       Strong Jira administration and configuration skills, including custom fields, issue types, workflows, schemes, permissions, and relationships.

·       Experience migrating requirements or comparable structured work items, including field mapping, hierarchy/links, attachments, and historical data considerations.

·       Experience with Jira REST APIs, migration utilities, scripting or automation (such as Python, Groovy, or Java), and data transformation.

·       Experience designing and executing pilot migrations, reconciliation, validation, production cutover, and issue remediation.

·       Ability to partner with source-system SMEs and translate business and technical requirements into target Jira design.

·       Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

·       Resume: 3–4 pages preferred. Clearly identify source platform(s) migrated into Jira, scale, dates, candidate's personal contributions, migration tooling, and outcome.

·       General Jira administration alone does not satisfy the mandatory hands-on migration requirement.

Desired Qualifications

·       Migration experience from IBM ELM/RTC/EWM, Azure DevOps, Rally, HP ALM, or other enterprise ALM or work-management platforms.

·       Experience migrating requirements with traceability, parent-child relationships, cross-references, and custom workflows.

·       Jira Cloud and/or Jira Data Center migration experience; experience with Jira ecosystem apps as appropriate.

·       Experience with large-scale or multi-project migrations and regulated government or healthcare environments.

·       Atlassian certifications or comparable proven expertise.
