As we continue to expand, we're looking for an experienced Director of Project Management to lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering a large portfolio of ground-mounted community solar projects throughout Colorado and surrounding markets.

Job DetailsPosition Overview
The Director of Project Management is responsible for leading a team of approximately nine Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers overseeing a portfolio of 30-50 active community solar projects ranging from 2 MW to 20 MW in size.
This position focuses heavily on people leadership, portfolio oversight, strategic project execution, financial performance, risk management, contractor accountability, and continuous process improvement.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience delivering renewable energy or large-scale construction projects from the owner's side (IPP or Developer preferred) and enjoys coaching teams while driving successful project outcomes.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of project management experience within renewable energy, EPC, infrastructure, or large commercial construction.
- 3+ years leading, mentoring, and developing project management teams.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent construction projects or large capital project portfolios.
- Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
- Experience negotiating EPC contracts, change orders, contractor disputes, and commercial issues.
- Strong knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.
- Proven experience managing project risks and executive-level reporting.
- Proficiency with Procore and project management software.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead through ambiguity while building trust across multiple stakeholders.
Highly Preferred:
- Owner's Representative, Independent Power Producer (IPP), or Renewable Energy Developer experience strongly preferred.
- Community solar, distributed generation, utility-scale solar, or renewable energy project experience.
- Strong electrical construction knowledge.
- Experience overseeing portfolios of multiple concurrent projects.
- Familiarity with Power BI, ERP systems, and integrated project controls.
- PMP, CCM, DBIA, PE, or similar certifications are a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a team of Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee a portfolio valued between $300M-$400M across multiple community solar developments.
- Provide executive-level oversight of project budgets, schedules, forecasting, reporting, and risk management.
- Support Project Managers in resolving complex project challenges, contractor issues, and stakeholder escalations.
- Review and negotiate EPC change orders, commercial issues, and contract modifications while protecting project objectives.
- Ensure projects remain on schedule by monitoring critical path activities and proactively mitigating schedule risks.
- Drive consistency in project controls, reporting standards, documentation, and governance across the portfolio.
- Partner closely with Development, Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Asset Management, and Executive -Leadership.
- Lead portfolio reviews, identify emerging risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor project financial performance including forecasting, contingency management, cash flow, cost-to-complete, and estimate-at-completion reporting.
- Champion quality, safety, compliance, and operational excellence throughout project execution.
- Utilize Procore and reporting tools to maintain accurate project data and provide meaningful executive reporting.
- Continuously improve project delivery processes and develop scalable best practices across the organization.
