Linux Systems Admin/Engineer Responsibilities:
Maintain the security and integrity of the Solaris/Linux infrastructure with client proprietary applications and oracle database servers.
Advanced system tunings to application specific requirements. Systems standardization and automation.
Designing the RHEL8 infrastructure with accordance to CLIENT security standards and prepare the migration strategy from RHEL8 to RHEL9
Convert the existing Puppet code to ansible Roles to meet the compatibility with latest satellite version.
Develop the new provisioning template to simplify the server installation and configuration.
Developing the new ansible roles for DB and application server profiling.
Work with multiple business units to architect and define configuration/provisioning templates based on the requirements for automation.
Migration of applications from Solaris11 to RHEL7/8 on VMware.
Define new configuration requirements on VMware, networking and SAN switches pertaining to Solaris or Linux server needs.
Certify the new system configurations and develop the SOPs for respective environment maintenance.
Review the Security audit reports and participated in PCI audits. Worked with security team and tested the vendor released packages/patches.
Custom built the packages as per client standards.
Certify and release the repositories for RHEL7/8 and Solaris11 quarterly patching.
Responsible for rollout of emergency fix for any critical CVEs.
Configuration and maintenance of RedHat Satellite/capsules and Ansible tower.
Perform the periodic upgrades and enhancements of tools when new releases available.
Maintain RedHat subscriptions through smart management of satellite and virt-who technology.
Work closely with security and monitoring teams to test the new application agents and automate the deployment.
Design and configure the muti-master Openldap replication.
Design, deploy and migrate release management servers with Gitlab and Jenkins applications to new RedHat infrastructure.
Prepare the implementation/deployment plans and drive through the change management cycle to seek the approvals from management board.
Perform quarterly patching of RedHat and Solaris servers to ensure systems are compliant and pass strict PCI security requirements as dictated by regular audits from security team.
Supporting Cohesity and Veritas Netbackup infrastructure.
Supporting the integration of vendor products like IBM cognos, Informatica, splunk, HP ALM, RH webSSO. Maintenance of CA Certs and renewals on regular basis.
Support the ongoing datacenter transformation projects and assist in POC.
Work on incident tickets and resolve in a timely manner.
Rotating on-call Unix/Linux support in a 24X7 environment.
Ability to cross train other infrastructure team members.
