Description
- The State of South Carolina is looking for a Network Engineer - Consultant
- Why is this position open: Repost of 11029. Change made to required skill - Palo Alto XDR required skill has been removed. Candidates that were submitted to 11029 may NOT be resubmitted. The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is looking for a skilled Network Administrator Consultant who will act as a point of reference for the Network Operations Center team on technical issues.
- Interview Process: Two Rounds. Candidate needs to be prepared to go onsite for one or both interviews.
- Duration of the Contract: 12 Months

- Candidate location: Candidates must be residents of SC, NC, or GA AND be willing to relocate within 40 miles of Blythewood, SC prior to their start date at their own expense.
- This position will total 37.5 Hours per Week - there is potential for being on call outside of regular business hours and on weekends on an as needed basis for outages.
- Candidate will be required to travel to various SCDMV Field Offices during work hours. A Valid Driver's License is REQUIRED for this position. A state vehicle will be provided for travel.

Candidate Location:

Work Location:

Hours:

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
- The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is looking for a skilled Network
- Administrator Consultant who will act as a point of reference for the Network Operations Center team on technical issues. While reporting to the Network Operations Center Manager, the Network Administrator Consultant will work on assignments that are complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems, making recommendations, and implementing changes with little to no supervision. In alignment with SCDMV standards, this position contributes advanced technical expertise to support and strengthen daily NOC operations.
DAILY DUTIES:
- Daily duties include managing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting a statewide network infrastructure built upon a foundation of various solutions, such as Cisco/Meraki, Palo Alto, Fortinet/FortiGate, Certes, and Citrix NetScaler, and Trellix technologies.
- The Sr. Network Engineer will be proactive in their approach to monitor network performance, ensure efficient communication across the network, review and improve security compliance through cybersecurity best practices, and implement updates or changes to maintain optimal connectivity and secure version compliance.
- Candidate will be part of a multi-team environment and must have the ability to work as part of those teams and must have the ability to support multiple tasks at the same time, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The candidate will work closely with technical teams and should be able to provide knowledge transfer and informal training to peers where appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform the configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of networking products.
- Troubleshoot network failures and identify network problems.
- Network analysis, design, installation, configuration, and support.
- Maintain network diagrams and other network documentation.
- Provide configuration, troubleshooting and problem resolution support.
- Troubleshoot and remediate issues in a complex, voice-integrated infrastructure.
