Scope of work:
Seeking a Cloud Data Migration Engineer with hands-on experience migrating Oracle workloads to AWS using AWS DMS, supporting full-load, CDC, and real-time streaming data migration architectures. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS infrastructure and networking (VPCs, subnets, security groups, VPNs, Direct Connect), cloud-native services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda), and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation. Experience with ETL/ELT processes, migration planning, cutover and rollback strategies, automation using Python/Bash/PowerShell, and monitoring through CloudWatch and CloudTrail is required. Strong communication skills and experience modernizing legacy on-premises systems in hybrid cloud environments are highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Understands business objectives and problems, identifies alternative solutions, performs studies and cost/benefit analysis of alternatives.
- Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing computer system
- Confers with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements, such as forms of data input, how data is to be; summarized, and formats for reports.
- Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer program.
- Reviews computer system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program change is possible within existing system.
Minimum Requirements:
Required Skills
- 8+ years of IT experience supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of technology solutions.
- 8+ years of experience using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to migrate data from Oracle to AWS.
- 8+ years of experience with batch and real-time data ingestion, including full data loads, Change Data Capture (CDC), and streaming architectures.
- 8+ years of experience designing and implementing AWS cloud infrastructure and networking, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, and routing.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with core AWS services, including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and Lambda, along with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
- 8+ years of experience with ETL/ELT processes and data integration methodologies for cloud migration projects.
- 8+ years of experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell for scripting and automation.
- 8+ years of experience configuring and managing AWS cloud network security, including VPNs, AWS Direct Connect, and Security Groups.
- 8+ years of experience using AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail for monitoring, logging, and operational visibility.
- 8+ years of experience developing data migration strategies, including cutover planning, rollback procedures, and minimizing application downtime.
- 8+ years of experience with hybrid cloud/on-premises connectivity and legacy system modernization initiatives.
- 8+ years of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including preparing technical design documentation, migration runbooks, and presenting to technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- 4+ years of experience with AWS Certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database Specialty.
- 1+ year of experience working in public sector or state government environments.
