Position Overview

Our Fortune 500 client located in New York, NY is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator - Nutanix & Physical Security Infrastructure to support and maintain enterprise infrastructure supporting critical physical security, access control, and video surveillance environments.

This is a hands-on infrastructure role requiring strong expertise in Nutanix cluster administration, VMware vSphere, Windows Server, and enterprise physical security technologies. The successful candidate will administer and optimize Nutanix and VMware environments while supporting Honeywell Pro-Watch access control, Genetec Security Center, enterprise IP camera/video systems, and associated SQL Server databases.

The ideal candidate brings a strong enterprise systems administration background combined with experience supporting highly available, business-critical physical security infrastructure. This individual should be comfortable troubleshooting across virtualization, Windows servers, databases, networking, access control, video surveillance, storage, and security technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Nutanix & VMware Infrastructure

• Administer, maintain, monitor, and support enterprise Nutanix clusters and virtualization infrastructure.
• Support the design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing administration of Nutanix and VMware vSphere environments.
• Monitor cluster health, performance, capacity, availability, and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot complex Nutanix, VMware, Windows Server, storage, and infrastructure issues.
• Coordinate infrastructure upgrades, patching, firmware updates, lifecycle activities, and vulnerability remediation.
• Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity requirements across critical infrastructure.
• Maintain infrastructure standards, system documentation, diagrams, operating procedures, and support guides.

Physical Security & Access Control

• Administer and maintain Honeywell Pro-Watch Access Control Systems, servers, and associated hardware.
• Support Genetec Security Center servers, video management systems, and camera integrations.
• Support enterprise card access systems, badge-management technologies, door controllers, and related physical security integrations.
• Troubleshoot physical security system incidents and coordinate corrective actions across infrastructure, networking, facilities, cybersecurity, and operations teams.
• Maintain the availability, performance, security, and reliability of critical physical security platforms.

Video Surveillance Infrastructure

• Serve as a technical resource for enterprise IP camera and video surveillance environments.
• Support IP cameras, video encoders, NVRs, DVRs, video management platforms, and enterprise storage solutions.
• Monitor video infrastructure performance, storage utilization, capacity, and system availability.
• Coordinate camera, server, storage, firmware, and supporting infrastructure upgrades.
• Troubleshoot complex video, server, storage, connectivity, and integration issues.

Windows Server & Systems Administration

• Administer and support enterprise Windows Server environments supporting physical security applications.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, domain services, user administration, file systems, software installations, and Windows services.
• Perform operating system patching, security updates, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation.
• Support server hardware, RAID configurations, storage, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
• Monitor system health, capacity, availability, and performance across critical server environments.

SQL Server & Application Support

• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, including databases supporting enterprise security applications.
• Support database backup, restore, availability, maintenance, and performance-monitoring activities.
• Troubleshoot application and database-related incidents.
• Develop, interpret, and modify SQL queries when required to support troubleshooting and operational needs.
• Support ChangeGear SQL databases and related enterprise applications.

Networking, Security & Automation

• Troubleshoot infrastructure connectivity involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, firewalls, and related network technologies.
• Apply security principles involving ACLs, encryption, authentication, authorization, and system hardening.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams on vulnerability remediation and secure infrastructure operations.
• Develop or maintain PowerShell and other automation scripts to improve administration, monitoring, reporting, and operational efficiency.
• Support monitoring, capacity planning, performance analysis, and infrastructure optimization.

Operational Support & Documentation

• Provide technical support for critical infrastructure and physical security incidents.
• Participate in scheduled maintenance, after-hours support, and emergency response activities.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operating procedures, recovery procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, facilities, operations, database, and application teams.
• Coordinate with vendors and technology partners when resolving complex infrastructure or physical security issues.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT experience supporting enterprise server, infrastructure, virtualization, or critical technology environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Nutanix administration and cluster management.
• Experience designing, implementing, deploying, or supporting Nutanix virtualization environments.
• Strong experience with VMware vSphere design, implementation, administration, and support.
• Experience supporting physical security infrastructure, access control, video surveillance, or related operational technology environments.
• Strong Windows Server administration experience.
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, patching, backup/recovery, storage, and server hardware.
• Strong infrastructure troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capabilities.
• Understanding of enterprise networking and security fundamentals.
• Strong documentation, communication, organization, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting critical production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Honeywell Pro-Watch Access Control Systems.
• Experience administering Genetec Security Center.
• Experience with enterprise IP cameras, NVRs/DVRs, video storage, badge systems, and door controllers.
• Microsoft SQL Server administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to interpret, modify, and develop SQL queries and scripts.
• PowerShell or other infrastructure automation scripting experience.
• Nutanix training, certification, or equivalent advanced Nutanix support experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting highly available, security-sensitive, critical infrastructure or Operational Technology environments.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to participate in after-hours and on-call support for critical systems.
• Ability to work overtime or flexible hours during scheduled maintenance or emergency response activities.
• Ability to travel to company locations when required.
• Ability to lift and transport server, network, and physical security equipment when necessary.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to successfully complete required personnel risk and background screening.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a hands-on infrastructure engineer who combines deep Nutanix and VMware expertise with experience supporting physical security systems. This is not solely a traditional Windows Systems Administrator role and not solely a physical security position.

You should be comfortable managing Nutanix clusters and VMware vSphere environments, troubleshooting Windows Server infrastructure, and supporting critical access control and video surveillance platforms. Experience with Pro-Watch, Genetec, SQL Server, PowerShell, networking, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery will be highly valuable.

Success in this role requires someone who can troubleshoot across infrastructure layers, maintain highly available and secure environments, communicate effectively with technical and operational stakeholders, and take ownership of critical systems from routine administration through complex production incidents.
