Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled VDI Connector Developer to design, develop, and integrate custom APIs and orchestration layers that connect multi-vendor Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) ecosystems. In this role, you will build and optimize integration plug-ins, integration scripts, and connectors that bridge Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops (DaaS), Omnissa/VMware Horizon, and Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI/AHV). You will work closely with architecture, infrastructure, and virtualization automation teams to ensure unified control-plane operations, automated workload provisioning, and cross-platform desktop streaming optimizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Connector & API Development: Design, build, and maintain custom integration connectors, plug-ins, and wrapper APIs to orchestrate workflows between Citrix Studio/Director, Horizon Connection Servers, and Nutanix Prism Central/Element.
- Infrastructure Automation: Develop dynamic scaling solutions and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) templates for just-in-time desktop provisioning, image replication, and catalog sync across Nutanix AHV.
- Cross-Platform Lifecycle Engineering: Build tools and automated scripts to manage master image/golden template conversion, profile roaming (e.g., Citrix Profile Management, Omnissa App Volumes, FSLogix), and session brokering across mixed environments.
- Performance & Event Monitoring Optimization: Expose and consume deep monitoring metrics (IOPS, bandwidth, network latency) by integrating Nutanix AHV performance layers with Citrix Director or Horizon Analytics engines.
- Integration Support (Tier 3/4): Troubleshoot deep system fault layers, API mismatch issues, SSL thumbprint validation mismatches, and networking handshake failures between the VDI planes and the hypervisor layer.
Required Technical Skills
- Automation & Programming: Proficient in PowerShell / PowerCLI, Python, and building/consuming RESTful APIs (specifically Citrix Web Studio APIs, Horizon Server REST APIs, and Nutanix Prism v3/v4 APIs).
- VDI Platforms: Deep development and architectural knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Omnissa / VMware Horizon 8.x.
- Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI): Extensive experience building for Nutanix AHV virtualization platforms, including Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI), NC2, and machine catalog plugin architecture.
- Systems & Identity: Strong understanding of Windows Server management, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and token-based authentication protocols (OAuth, SAML, Kerberos).
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 8+ years of software engineering, infrastructure development, or platform automation experience specifically focused on enterprise EUC or cloud-hosted VDI environments.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical engineering experience.
Preferred Certifications:
- Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP-MCI)
- Citrix Certified Professional or Expert (CCP-V / CCE-V)
- Omnissa/VMware Certified Professional – Desktop Management (VCP-DTM)
