Position Specific Description

Be part of history as we restart Duane Arnold Energy Center. As a Site Engineering Manager, you will lead engineering teams in delivering critical technical solutions that enable plant restoration, system recommissioning, and operational readiness. This role is accountable for making disciplined, high-impact decisions related to plant design, system performance, and modification of structures, systems, and components, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Your leadership will directly support both the successful restart of the station and its long-term safe, reliable operation.

This is a long-term leadership position within the operating organization, responsible for guiding cross-functional teams and providing technical direction to senior plant leadership. The role serves as a key liaison across engineering disciplines, operations, and regulatory stakeholders during this historic restart and throughout the operating life of the plant. This is engineering leadership at its most impactful-powering Iowa's clean energy future through innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.

To be successful in this role, you may also bring:
  • Experience leading teams of engineers in a nuclear or highly regulated industrial environment
  • Proven ability to develop, mentor, and manage a team of professional engineers, fostering accountability, engagement, and growth
  • Experience leading engineering teams supporting plant startup, restart, system testing, or commissioning activities
  • Direct interface experience with the NRC and INPO, including inspections, audits, or regulatory engagements
  • Strong working knowledge of configuration management, design control, and plant modification processes
  • Experience providing leadership and decision-making for electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, or control system performance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex technical and organizational challenges
  • Experience balancing technical rigor, schedule, and resource priorities in a high-consequence environment

Job Overview

This job manages engineering support for the nuclear plant or fleet. Employees in this role must ensure that products and services comply with technical specifications, quality and reliability expectations, and meet completion schedules and cost projections.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises large teams in the completion of projects
  • Leads both design and configuration management activity
  • Plans and completes studies, evaluations, and NRC submittals
  • Provides large-scale problem solving recommendations, real-time support and technical consultation to the nuclear fleet
  • Manages system, design, and technical staff to develop and implement plant modifications
  • Meets or exceeds site-specific ANSI standard requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's - Engineering
  • Experience: 10+ years
  • Nuclear Experience: 7+ years
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 4+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's - Business Administration
  • Master's - Engineering
  • Senior Reactor Operator Certification

Special Requirements

Nuclear Specific Requirements:
  • Engineering or related experience: 10+ years
  • Operations, Maintenance, Work Control/Outage experience with management experience in at least one of these areas: Engineering Design, Programs, Systems, Rapid Response, Fuels, or Engineering Chiefs experience
  • Engineering manager or engineering supervisory experience

Nuclear Specific Preferences:
  • Operations or Maintenance experience, executive education, multi-site or corporate experience
