Enterprise Architect Data Modernization & Governance
Duration: 16-Month Initial Term (with potential for multi-year extensions) Location: Remote / Hybrid
Job Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Enterprise Architect (EA) to lead the design and technical strategy for a large-scale health data infrastructure modernization project. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design of data ingestion frameworks, entity resolution (MDM), and automated data governance within a complex cloud environment. This role is critical in transitioning legacy workflows into a modern AWS-based Data Lake using a medallion architecture and ensuring all technical work is seamlessly integrated into an Agile/DevOps delivery model.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Leadership: Lead the design and implementation of modern data ingestion pipelines (batch, streaming, API) and entity resolution frameworks using tools like Profisee and Purview.
- Governance & Compliance: Establish an enterprise governance architecture, including metadata-driven standards, data quality enforcement, and lineage propagation rules.
- Agile Integration: Embed architectural checkpoints and decision-making frameworks (ADRs) directly into Azure DevOps (ADO) workflows to ensure end-to-end traceability from backlog to release.
- Technical Roadmap: Develop and maintain technical roadmaps and unified reference blueprints that align architectural milestones with broader strategic objectives.
- Legacy Migration: Assess legacy system inventories and design transition-state architectures to facilitate the phased retirement of deprecated workflows without disrupting operations.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Produce high-level architecture narratives (e.g., "Day in the Life of Data") to communicate complex technical designs to executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Architecture Frameworks: Proven experience working within established frameworks such as TOGAF or FEAF.
- Cloud Ecosystems: Deep expertise in AWS (Data Lake/Medallion Architecture) and the Microsoft Azure Stack (Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Purview, and Power BI).
- Data Expertise: Strong background in Information/Data Architecture, specifically in Master Data Management (MDM), entity resolution, and automated data quality/governance.
- Process Automation: Experience designing automated workflows using Power Automate and low-code/no-code platforms for governance gating and approvals.
- Agile Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Azure DevOps (ADO) for managing work taxonomy, repos, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to lead design sessions and author comprehensive runbooks.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience architecting health data infrastructure or large-scale public sector data platforms.
- Experience in Legacy System Retirement and decommissioning strategies within a highly regulated environment.
- Relevant industry certifications in Enterprise Architecture or Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure).
